James River State Park, Virginia

Lots of weekend programs. Big sites. It is also an International Dark Sky site, and they have stargazing.

We really like it there as well. It's quiet and low key, has nice staff, and provides easy access to a very nice part of the James River. It's fairly local for us too, about two hours from home



Generally speaking, we're lucky in Virginia and have a number of really nice state and national parks.
