WSJ article on campground no shows with reservations
The following WSJ article (unfortunately behind the paywall) discusses the campground no shows (with reservations) and what states are doing about it. Apparently, CA has a legislation pending where the cancellation fees would be dropped but penalties for no shows will rise. WY apparently has similar laws in place. I think it is a good thing, even though late cancellations aren’t that useful for long distance trip planning.
What some campground have started doing is requiring a 50% deposit n NO refund on deposit regardless of the reason why. Stop going to our favorite fall campground due to this when a new owner from Houston bought it . They lost 20 campers that had been coming there for 15 yrs or more due to this. We had been going there for 5 yrs. Still looking for a fall get away retreat in the mountains
