Charge controller setting
I'm getting the basic single 12v battery. No electrical upgrades. On the standard charge controller is there a way to change the charge settings to accommodate changing to a different type battery? thanks

The WFCO converter used by Escape does not have the ability to change the charging profiles, however it will work the same for either a single 12V battery or a pair of 6V deep cycle. It rarely goes into the bulk mode, so it will take longer than other makes of converters to recharge a low battery. If you change to AGM, there are some advantages of changing out the charging section of the converter,

Thanks Jon Changing to an AGM is exactly what I plan to do. When you say "changing out the charging section of the converter" is that a module within the converter or are you saying the entire converter? thanks

There are replacement charging sections (the bottom of the converter) that lets you keep the 120V & 12V sections. An example is the Boondocker from Best Converters.

Thanks I've got that site saved. One other thing, will the AGM still work in the system before the conversion, just not as efficiently? I was planning on giving the wet cell to a friend in Washington if I could. I already have the AGM which I'm taking with me for the trailer pick up.

Yes, it will charge, but more slowly. AGM batteries can be charged at a higher rate than standard wet cells so a charging system designed for them will work better than the WFCO unit.
