I was surprised by the Dometic awning. It has a very quiet and smooth deployment and retraction. It also extends out quite a distance. Everything is controlled by a remote, conveniently mounted next to the door. Power to the unit is controlled by a switch next to the door. I need to label the switches. Right now, I turn everything on and the awning works!

Ready for the Niagara Wine Escape Weekend1
Our new trailer is washed, waxed and read to go! We will be arriving at Riverside on Friday morning and setting up in site 33.
Since this is our first trip with the new trailer, I would appreciate any advice the seasoned campers can give us. For example, how do you utilize the space in your trailer? What is stored where and why?
Any one that would like to look over the new 2017 model 21 is welcome to join us at our campsite. We haven't made to many modifications. We've added "Early" to the graphics and I've installed a WiFi booster. Other than that, the trailer is pretty much stock.
See you on Friday!

That is a good looking rig Peter! Pulled with your white Silverado, it ought to be a sight to behold! Congratulations also on your wash and wax

I suspect you will "reorganize" the trailer several times before you are finally satisfied with your choice of storage locations. Even going from a Scamp 19 5er to the 5.0TA with a somewhat similar floorplan, it took us several tries before we were happy with the way things were organized. The only suggestion I would offer is try to be logical in your organization. Don't store wine bottles in one location and a corkscrew someplace else. For example, chocks, leveling blocks, and the stabilizer crank, etc. should be in the same location, if possible. And keep in mind frequently used stuff versus occassionally used stuff.

Thanks Carl,
My wife and I like to travel light and the Escape 21 has an awesome amount of storage space. We will never fill up all the space in the trailer. The questions are more how to make it fit. For example, where do you store a tall box of cereal? The upper cabinets are pretty short.
I'm sure we are going to learn a lot on this first outing!

Peter,
What you may find is it will be easier to buy containers that are not too tall to fit in cabinets and transfer cereal to them, or lay the boxes on their side. But in doing so you may then find the box takes up too much space horizontally. You will likely try several things before you find a solution that meets your needs. But rest assured, you will have fun trying different ways, and ultimately will get great satisfaction when you realize you have it "just right."
Good luck and enjoy the rally. Say hi to Alf and Mary Anne for me!

New Escape
We're looking forward to seeing your new 21. Everybody arranges their stuff to fit their own camping style. While I know you'll want to show your trailer off, don't deprive yourself of touring some of the other trailers. That's where you'll get some ideas for sure. We store our cereal on its side. Gotta make sure the bag top gets rolled up and the tabs are folded in right or you get a little suprise when you pull the box out. Part of the fun is the continuous improvement you'll experience over the years. Not so fun is adding to the gross national product buying all kinds of camping gear. Reminds me of that Indiana Jones movie, choose wisely. See you later this week

Pyster,
We will be in site 36 and can't wait to see your 2017 21' Escape. You will find that things will eventually fall in their proper place.

Peter, We put heavy duty plastic plates, coffee cups, and acrylic wine glasses in the cabinet over the sink. Coffee, grinder, filters and and cone in the cabinet over the stove. We put pots and pans in the large cabinet under the stove (we didn't get the oven). Unrefrigerated food, including cereal boxes, rice, cans, and olive oil, and seasonings, go in the three wheel-well cabinets under the sink and stove. Fresh fruit in a basket and wash bins with hand and dish soap go in the larger cabinet under the sink. Our wine, and toiletries go in the narrow wheel well cabinets on the driver side. Linen, towels, flags and decorations go in the upper cabinets over the dinette. Larger folding clothes go in the cabinets over the bed and smaller clothes items go in the drawer cabinets. BBQ table, camp chairs, and roll-up end table go in the outside hatch under the bed. Broom, tank treatment, and some light spare supplies go under the bed through the inside access. Fresh water hose, detachable cable, cable coaxial, and stabilizer crank go in the left rear outside hatch. Outdoor mat, slinky bridge, chocks , Linx blocks, and non-freshwater hose w/nozzle go in the front storage box.
So far, this works for us and keeps things in convenient locations. Hope this helps.

Hi:Seef & Hi: bouterse... I wondered? That'll be a long float home!!! Don't bother with fancy anything for the pot luck. Some Speculaas would be a special treat. I'll bring the Speculoos cookie butter!!! Alf

How about if we bring some 'paarde vlees'? It's quite a delicacy over here.
