Haven't been to the Osoyoos rally since 2015. I remember a "free" area there and there's been one at just about every rally that I've been too.

Sometimes someone puts down a blue tarp for free items. Then it's a case of the early bird gets the worm. Although I've seen that abused with someone showing up exactly or before the posted start time and grabbing just about anything of value. I find that disgusting.

There has always been a swap meet at the rally, at least for the last bunch of years.

FYI for ebike riders: some types banned on some trails.

Free Tarps

I’ve organized free tarps a a few rallies. Mr Jim Norman has to be restrained. Not for taking everything early but from dropping stuff off as early as the night before. I hover over the tarp, that’s right, actually levitate, and when we get a little crowd there and the magic second hand sweeps past the zenith, people are allowed to start. Absolute serious now, I’ve never experienced greediness among participants.

We have had some great experiences and some humorous exchanges. (I gave Alf a pair or rubber boots. One was size ten and one size 11. Both left feet). Haven’t been back to the falls since but have them mated up out in the garage.
Had a tarp in 2019 where $4,000 dollars worth of stuff was in the tarp. WDH, Complete volcano stove, new cassette toilet in the box, $800 worth of Vera Bradley I phone covers and merchandise. (I took a can of salve worth about $5, there were three).

The nice EZ 2 WDH from Jon Vermilye was claimed but only after about 20 minutes on the tarp. The guy who needed it for his new Casita on a Chrysler minivan was aided for the next couple hours by two or three campers who installed it for him. That’s what it’s all about.

Free tarps are fun.

I see where the Osoyoos IGA is no longer in business, can someone suggest an alternate to stop for replenishment locally produce there?

That's too bad about that IGA .... but if you follow Main Street, on the right ( coming from the town centre) or on the left when coming from the Crows Nest Highway , there is a fair sized grocer called " By Low Foods" and a few other shops
.... also not far from ETI and just "off " the highway on the south side ( you will pass by there enroute to Osoyoos there is a large Real Canadian Super Store ( RCSS ).

Actually it just occurred to me , you might be coming up Hwy 97 from the US , not from Osoyoos via the Crows Nest Hwy 3. Coming up from the US it will be on the right when you turn into the town.

That reminds me to take the clip-on tow mirror that I got off the tarp to Osoyoos. Didn't find it any use at all. Guess I'm too used to using the standard mirrors.

Try AG Foods, not IGA. New name and owner I suspect. BC liquor store right there too.

If we're going to get there Thursday, we will be staying the 3 days before at Lincoln rock state park down by Wenatchee Washington.
