Fort Casey April 25-29 2021

We got cancelled in April 2020 by park closures, etc, but let's give it a go for 2021 if we can. I looked at dates and there are lots of sites, hookup and dry, available for Sunday-Thurs 2021. (There are also weekend sites for those who want a weekend, too.)

I booked #24 for the 25-29th.

Right now, you can't book the off-season senior pass rate online, and when I tried to call and do it I couldn't get it straightened out, so I ended up confirming with Fort Casey that I could come in when I registered with my pass and get a refund, Your mileage may vary! It will let you go almost through the process before telling you to go to full rate online. (A senior pass is $75 and allows free dry camping October-March and on Sun-Thurs in April, and $10 for hookup sites.)

And sorry- yes, it is right after NOG. It was the most open time for sites that I could find.

It's very unclear right now what a rally will look like next year, but I hope we can gather much more safely by then. We certainly will know more about what is and isn't safe, vaccine or not.

So: long story short, if you want to come, reservations are open. Currently that includes hookup sites AND waterfront sites (but not hookup waterfront sites...) Be forewarned a windy day might make those of us with smaller trailers regret the front waterfront sites.

Hi Bobbie, we have booked site 23 for 4/25 - 4/29/2021, AND....I was able to use my current Sr. Offseason Pass successfully. Four nights for 8 bucks, pretty sweet!

GJ.

Cool. I had to pay but they said I can get refunded when I get there.

I should probably start keeping track of who is hoping/planning to come. Hope our Canadian neighbors can but not very optimistic!

Bumping up. Small group, I believe, but still a number of spots left.

There are a few more non-hookup sites available for all nights, and some move-around possibility after that, including some hookup nights. For senior pass holders, you are still free Sun-Thursday night.

Like all of Washington we are currently in phase 2 which officially means outdoor gatherings of up to 15 (from no more than 2 households, supposedly) but hopefully by late April many if not all of us will be vaccinated and we can relax more and I think have a potluck and campfire or two, maybe with some special care about what we provide.

I'm not sure who all is registered but would like to put a list together so if you are coming post or PM me with your trailer, name(s),dates, and site.

Almost time for our Fort Casey Escape rally!

I think we will have between 10 and 14 trailers at various times during the week, starting with the first six or so on Sunday night. (Remember to get your reservation if you are coming from the peninsula.)

Many if not all of us will be fully or partially vaccinated, and county requirements now allow up to 50 for an outdoor gathering, so we are pretty much free to do what we want and each couple or individual can decide what they are comfortable with.

So my suggestion is that we have a few group meals, but not as potlucks, just get together at someone’s site, fire going and maybe a grill setup, and bring our own dinners. I am going to volunteer to host on Monday night (figure about 5:30 or 6) and will have a small charcoal grill as well as a fire at site 24. Bring your own food, own chair, and socially distance as you feel comfortable.

Perhaps a couple of others can volunteer to host another night- either volunteer now or we can simply post or announce the next site each day. It could be just a campfire later, too.

Tours are still not running but I believe the lighthouse is now open for self-guided tours.

Here’s who. I have on the list:

Garyjohn E19, BI,site23, 25-29
Bobbie E17b, site 24 25-29
Karen H, E15A,#26, 25-29
Jane and Ed, 33, 25-29
Jinny, 17b,site15 25-29?
Foxhunt 4- 26-29
,Dave and Linda, E21, site 13 on the26th, site 28 on 27, 28
Lori and Ray (and PRudy), E 19, site 19, 26-28
Bob and Mimi, #21, E19 26-28
Jessica and Ron, 5,0
Betty and Doug (PA) 21, 28-30
Eleanor, E19

So here is the schedule so far:

Sunday- first arrivals
Monday, 5:30 PM, BYOD at Bobbie’s site #24, charcoal grill provided (and fire)
??
