I try not to get "annoyed" by anything said on the forum. The sole exception might be when someone is obviously insulted or ridiculed, or when bad advice (something dangerous or illegal) is given. Those type of things are extremely rare.
The format can often mean that people come across in a different way than they ever would in person. As for the tone of the comments, I've often been wrong in assuming some sinister motive in a comment when it turns out none was intended. Or, as my grandpa, who was hip till the day he died, used to say: "Son, you need to lighten up".

My personal opinion is that I wish that the OP had taken more time to talk with the good folks at Escape before making her/his first post on this forum a "warning" about Escape's business practices.
(I have said the following several times and will probably, unfortunately, need to say it again in the future) Many people on this Forum know Reace and Tammy personally and consider them friends. Just like posters here have no desire to be personally attacked, IMO this is also not the place to insult the integrity of the good folks at ETI. I and everyone I have personally met who owns an Escape trailer have been treated with nothing but friendliness and competency by the good folks at ETI. And yes I am a cheerleader for ETI, as I wish that every company I dealt with was like ETI.

I agree - thanks to Tammy for a clear explanation of an entirely reasonable policy.
When a customer commits to a purchase, Escape Trailer Industries commits to delivering the product at the agreed price. This makes perfect sense to me.

Not me, I'm choking and gagging because the server waited until I had a mouthful of food and then I tried to utter "fine".
Maybe Tammy's response should be a stickie. Bottom line; be mad at price increases but don't be mad at the company for them.

I can't recall any business informing me of possible price increases. Merchants don't give warnings on future grocery store item price increases, nor clothing, booze, movies of anything other than Government run utilities or insurance (at least in BC). The media (news) will often give the heads up on produce price hikes after severe weather.but that's it!
Contractors today, at least the contractors I run across, only give estimates on work or commit to a 'time and materials' contract. After the contract is signed it can still go up due to unforeseen circumstances.
This topic has me puzzled. As far as I'm concerned, the Escape travel trailer is a luxury item, most often custom designed and if, when in the planning stages of customization, the price
goes up before the signature goes down, then that's the way it is.

Very true words, Robert. While I believe you can get a very good read on the type of person one is after many posts, it is individual posts for me that I either feel I may have misinterpreted, or many where I feel I did not word things a amicably as possible.
I have met in person a few hundred folks I got to know first online, and have very much enjoyed doing so.
You Grampa some wise words.

I think Robert's grandfather and mine were out of the same mould. Gramps never got shook about anything even when maybe he should have gotten shook. He slowed up a little at 94 and died at 96. Loren

So, Tammy's comment does help clarify. We switched from a 17 to a 19 in September of 2014, about 4-5 months before our build started. I guess that means the base price was subject to change, not just the options price. I don't really understand WHY that is necessary, but I do understand WHAT the policy is now. At the time I was told that the reason for the increase was my build date made it a 2015.

Clear as crystal!!!
What else is clear to me: this Forum is here to help each other! Not to intervene with other people's business! What or what-not they should do!
So grateful Tammy kicked in!

I don't understand.
If people post their business or concerns, others will respond, if it's about wax or covers or prices..just as you have now responded.

I can understand the frustration of seeing the price of your dream trailer go up overnight, but I would defend ETI's right to do so. Living in Canada, every time I look at something I want to order from the U.S. I multiply X 1.4. This takes into account the other fees associated with cross border purchases. I'm not surprised to see the cost of Escapes rising considering how the price of other products from the U.S. have gone up. They purchase many of their supplies and appliances from the U.S. To be honest, if we hadn't already got our Escape and seen in person how great they were, I might be hesitating myself. There are those who honestly can't afford a price increase. I feel for them, but ETI has to ensure they don't go belly up. BTW, U.S. buyers are still getting a really great deal. And kudos to Tammy for responding.

My understanding is that people come to this Forum to ask for info, help, advice, etc.
Forum members respond, all in their own way, by answering. Answering in the form of advice, suggestion, comments, etc..
But at the end, the person asking for advice, makes his/her own decision.
We can discuss many things here on this forum, but at the end, we have to respect whatever decision he/she, who asked the question, makes.
That's why I said to be glad Tammy kicked in. This is ETI's business decision, and we should respect that.
Can I still ask for advice once and awhile?
