Fitting for external propane hose to Blackstone griddle?
Hello,
The fitting that came with the external hose does not fit on my blackstone griddle.
I believe what I need is a 3/8 to 1/4 fitting which is what I purchased (right hand side of first picture). When I screw it in it doesnt go in all the way to the hose--and it barely goes past the first thread (see second picture). It doesnt feel secure whatesoever which leads me to believe I purchased the wrong one. The fitting which came with the hose from ETI (middle of first picture) screws all the way into the hose but doesnt fit the Blackstone.
Can someone provide a link to one on amazon that would suit my purposes?
Thanks in advance!

I have this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I did however also purchase another propane hose, this one:
https://www.amazon.com/GASPRO-Pressu...9547433&sr=8-3
There are any number of configurations/fittings that will work, but remember, all you're trying to do is make 1/4" quick connects on each end. The adapter makes the stove a 1/4" quick connect male.

Thanks for the response.
The hose that came with the trailer wont work then? I'd prefer not to spend money on another one if I dont have to but def will if there's no fitting that can accommodate it.
edit* i didnt see the last part of your post until now. so i would need a fitting with a flare tip?

Blackstone fitting
All we ordered was the fitting form Amazon. The hose from ETI worked fine.

As Kirt mentioned, you don't need another hose. I just got one because I keep one with the Blackstone and have another (the one supplied by Escape) with different fittings for use with my fire ring.

This all makes sense now. The source of my confusion was that I was replying to a different post.
I'm going to order the one Kirt recommended. Thanks again, everyone!

I use a hose like this, and connect from a naked 20 lb bottle to the regulator that came with the propane appliance.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Char-Broil-...Hose/999919914
this fits on where a 1 lb disposable bottle would be screwed in. there's no guarantee that a standalone appliance uses the 11" WC (water column) pressure that the trailer regulator runs at, so I would only bypass the appliance regulator if you KNOW its an 11 inch WC device.
I typically carry a 3rd spare bottle for this purpose. that spare bottle does double duty, when my trailer bottles are running low, I swap the empty for the spare, and leave the selector on the mostly-empty one, then when the auto switch flips to the spare, I can go fill both of the now completely empty trailer bottles... now, when the spare gets down to like 25% full, I'll drag it along and fill all 3., but that spare bottle tends to last a LONG time (and at home, its the spare bottle for the big Weber on our patio...)

That didn't work because, among other issues, the thread in the fitting on the end of the hose and the thread on the outside of that adapter bushing, despite both being 3/8", are completely incompatible. The adapter has tapered threads (National Pipe Tapered, or NPT); the fitting on the end of the hose is an SAE 45 degree flare swivel nut with straight (not tapered) threads. There is no way to make these threads work together.
I strongly recommend understanding what bits you are screwing together before attempting to connect them (and possibly damaging them) and certainly before trying to use them (and having a propane leak as a result).

Understood. I am very new to this and assumed that by going to the Home Depot with the actual pieces in hand would result in getting decent advice. Apparently that didnt happen.

That's not surprising. Home improvement centers focus on things for the home, so their plumbing supplies are things like standard pipe and NPT fittings. And since they sell a little bit of everything, their staff typically aren't specialists in any one area. They likely don't know propane fittings at all, particularly low pressure QC fittings.

I agree.
Ironically, the right parts might be available at Home Depot... in the seasonal section with grill parts, and perhaps not in plumbing. There are often staff with plumbing experience in the plumbing section, but I wouldn't expect to find anyone who knows anything about anything in seasonal.

FWIW, I get far more valuable help on hardware issues like this at a local Ace hardware store than I ever do at any of the mega chains like Home Despot.

Agreed. Unless there happens to be a retired plumber working the aisle I’ve found I’m on my own.

those quick release fittings are for low pressure propane after the main regulator.
for direct connecting a 1 lb (green coleman bottles) appliance which has its own internal regulator to a 20 lb bottle, you want a hose like this..

btw, you can find those adapter hoses at most any store that has bbq accessories like a Ace Hardware.. I prefer to get one with a brand like Coleman or Mr Heater, the couple no-name brand stuff ("ShineStar" et al) from Amazon etc were bad from the box.

I have some appliances that I wanted to use with my Q/A connections on our 21NE. From Coleman to Blackstone brills, to propane fire bowls and BBQs - the proliferation of "connections" - particularly with those appliances that use 1 pound disposable propane containers is daunting.
The local propane/welding shop here is cooperative and cautious when it comes to their advice, but it is truly annoying when you're told that "yes, you could use that appliance with your Q/A system on your RV, but you need a proprietary widget that isn't available".
When you can convert an old Coleman white gas pump-it-up camp stove to to propane fired, then there are options out there. Manufacturers need to step up and make Q/A option available with their products. When you're already hauling 2x20lb propane tanks, there should be no need to require wasteful 1 lb or even an extra 5-10 lb tank...UNLESS you choose to.
Hopefully, propane appliance manufacturers listen to their customers on this topic.
