It certainly works with a 1 gallon jug but is probably not worth it for such a small amount. Maybe a hose extension can reach into a larger container?
This is what I use when the outside temperature gets too low. Bring the 5 gallon jug into the trailer. Put a hose in and draw into the pump using the winterizing tee. Then, use the jug in place of your fresh water tank.
