The advantage of this arrangement escapes me, though certainly to each their own. If one wanted that option, using a hose bib as a part of the tank drain fitting (short), and adding the female adapter on the spigot end of one's hose might make more sense...less hanging down below the tank. Another option would be to build a fill hose with female fittings on both ends. Photo is of the fitting I linked to in post #2 installed on our 5.0 TA.

I did this. Works fine. Nothing to break off. Only needs to be finger tight without teflon. Drains much faster than the original valve.
