I think that whole area is a one piece unit installed or made by Escape. If you look behind a Casita or Scamp or any other company, you will not see a finished space nor drain plug for water. I merely pored some water and checked to see it drains and inserted my plastic hose, There is still room to allow surface water to drain into the opening.

I just checked my numbers, the unit has recovered to 10/38 from highs of 16 and 44 when I loaded some warm items at 1:30 pm. It is now 7:30 pm= 6 hour recovery, but it is still on #4, I did not turn it up to #5 earlier when loading. Tomorrow I'll do that to see if it shortens the recovery time.

I was curious as my new Dometic hose just sort of hangs there in mid-air. Didn't know if the old fridge hose was poked down that hole or not.......

Your old fridge should have had a plastic drain cup that snaped on the return line next to the boiler. I have not seen the new 2 door but thought they had the same thing. Bottom right in the picture.
The hole is required for a propane leakage hole (heavier than air) I believe and should not be used for a drain.

Charlie, that hose drains your condensate from your refrigerator into a plastic cup in the back from which it evaporates. I added a piece of hose and inserted it into the hole.
As far as propane escaping, you have the entire vent there vs the tiny hole which has a drain tube about 24 inches long under the unit, seems a lot for propane vs out the vent.

I may be wrong and Reace is the one to ask but I think the hole is a RV manufacturer requirement.
But maybe it's just in case your cup overflows.

"The cup overfloweth" is a good theory! Would take a LOT to overflow the catch-cup though. Discovered my hose was hanging out in midair because the install tech stuck the temporary cooling fan switch in the cup and didn't mount it.... but then again, they didn't charge me for it either............

Today the outside temperature was in the mid 80's and I had to turn my control back to #3 because the refrigerator was down to 35 and the freezer was at 8 degrees F. No fans, on 120v. Tomorrow I will operate the unit off propane and record the results.

Did you get an IR thermometer? would be good seeing if the tube the probe is on gets hotter with gas vs electric.

I do have one but they came on immediately after switching because I went outside to unplug the electric and heard the fans on, maybe 30 seconds after switching to gas. Perhaps it is an automatic thing, fans on for propane, thermostat all else?

Here are my numbers for August. I stopped before the end of the month because I'm having other problems, e.g. stuck freezer door. I haven't checked the fans yet, either. Getting settled in at home.

If you look at the Max/Min fridge temp, it's pretty lousy. Guess I still take the cooler along.

Thanks Mike! Great report.
Whoops, I should have kept the RML (single door) .. with the freezer compartment 'out' it did better then that.
The RMD engine is obviously better then the RML so it's time to cut some holes with flappers to drop some of the cold air down from the freezer.

Quite a comprehensive report ! Well done.
Did anyone at any time actually claim or promise that the RMD frig was better before the change out ?

From what I read from others with the two-door fridge, I think my results are an anomaly. Something isn't adjusted right. Hopefully I'll find out soon.

I hoped to hear a glowing report about the RMD and I never did on this Forum or in my ETI emails regarding the swap.
I do see some chilly air right above that frig ... time to tap it. I think a couple fans to move the cold down quickly would help performance
The RMD engine is much better then the RML, you can see it. A cold box with 3 speed fans should do the job to 100f ?

The only time I run my fridge on electric is when I'm pre cooling it at home then I leave it on propane 100% of the time when on the road and camping and find it cools best that way. Changing it back and forth always made the temps rise on the day of the change.

We pretty much do the same Barry. I played around with the fuel source for awhile, until I realized it always performed better - sometimes dramatically better - on propane. So much for the AES.
