The 11,000 BTU Penguin 11

No camping trips in this heat for me. ET19 is under a canopy. Stewing at home here in central New Mexico. Finally got up, go in yard, turn on my 11,000 BTU Dometic Penguin 11 just to see if it still works. Need to be checking Penguin’s performance during this heat wave, just because it’s there and I need to know what I got.

Could at any moment do something insane, like hooking up and moving out. It’s currently 103 degrees F out there. Plug ET19 into shore power. I bought that Penguin 8 years ago, installed it myself, but only used it um, three times? I forget. Most notable recollection is the thing earned its “jet engine” sound rating.

So, at 1:45 PM outside it is in the high 90’s. Under that canopy, inside the trailer, it is 96°F. Josie is wary, seems only interested in seeking out shade via Escape. Turn on the a/c and set the blue gauge to the half-way mark. Go back into house. Come back at 3 PM - inside trailer Penguin 11 is blowing cold nicely, interior now down to 84°F. Hour later temp outside is 103°F but in the trailer it is now 80°F. I must admit these are good numbers. Almost good enough to ignore the sound. Makes for me a trailer trip a temptation but – Not that nuts yet.
