Water Pump

Hello everybody. Longtime lurker, first time poster. I’ve got a 2020 Escape 19, and everything is great but…..

Since I picked up the trailer, I’ve been having an issue with my water pump. It will prime and water will run out of the faucets, but when I close the faucet and go back to use the water again, even a minute later, there is nothing.

I’ve tried opening all faucets and then priming the water and then shutting them all off, but the same problem happens.

Has anyone else experienced this and can tell me what the fix is? I’ve watched Reece’s video and will try adding water to the pump manually. I don’t see leaking anywhere.

Thanks for reading ☺️

Sounds like something is allowing liquid to escape, thus the priming every time of use....keep looking, perhaps a bad pump?

Welcome to the forum.
Under the bed you might have a valve (usually white) and a hose on it that is used to suck in antifreeze for winterizing. If it got knocked open a bit this would suck air and not allow enough power to suck water from a dead start.

My water pump will not come on. I have checked the fuse and the switch, both ok. 2012 Escape 19.

A few years ago after we got our 5.0 I didn’t immediately use the water pump, so when I did-it didn’t work. After trying various things, I sent Reace an email and he said send me a picture and see if he could troubleshoot it. I sent the pics and he said that it (round filter/cartridge) had been installed upside down. So I loosed the clamp (or whatever-can’t remember now) and turned it right side up-it worked after that. Will try and send a pic of what my water pump (filter/cartridge) looks like.
Good luck,
Judy

Here is a water pump trouble shooting video made by Reace “back in the day” which may be helpful for folks with water pump issues

Good video. It happened to me one time: I had let the pump run dry. I took off the little clear cap, filled the cavity up, and then the pump worked fine

Here's a procedure I use to get air out of the water pump.
... Open either the cold or hot water kitchen sink faucet.
... Turn on the pump. Let it run 'til water has achieved a good pressure coming out of it.
... Without closing the faucet, turn off the pump. Let the pressure decrease 'til almost no water is coming out the faucet.
... Turn on the pump again. Let the water volume increase to maybe full amount coming out.
... Turn off pump again.
... And run thru this cycle several - three or four - times. Pump on. Pump off. While leaving the faucet opened.
It should get air out of the pump.
