I think the best cheddar cheeses I've ever had have all been from rural Vermont... Grafton Village 5-star is superb. Another really good cheddar is the English "Coastal".

I've stayed at Sunset Beach sp. it's nice and there is amazing seafood available nearby.

I have also stayed at Millsite. Stumbled on it a few years ago. Small, convenient, and when i was there, really nice hosts who went above and beyond.

Nehalem in mid October. One of our favourites.

We have reservations at Tillicum over Labor Day but we are wondering what's a good spot to camp for the wine country along the Willamette river?

Yup, I have been there in those conditions before. My pic is from July, but if you look closely you can see that we are wearing stocking hats and warm coats. Mother Nature plays with a full deck of cards on the Oregon Coast.

I've only been to one Oregon park (Cape Lookout State Park), but it was amazing!

The Tillamook factory is a madhouse. I'm not sure what times are less busy, but try to go then! We abandoned any idea of going in after seeing the lines. It must be pretty great inside if people are willing to wait that long!

We are leaving today from Cape Lookout SP on northern coast near Tillamook. Very nice. C loop is the best loop. I would expect needing reservations for your time of year. We just picked up our 5.0 last week and love it.

Thank you to everyone. We have made our reservations and are hitting 6 Oregon coastal state parks in just over 2 weeks. Haven’t booked the return trip yet. Will probably do that once we start the trip as we’ll be into October by then and are hoping we won’t need reservations then.

Can’t wait to start it!

+1 on the Tillamook creamery. Don’t forget the cheese curds!

Humbug, along the southern coast, north of Gold Beach.

Humbug campground is just east of the highway, and easy walking distance to coves and the shore.

FYI, there is a restaurant in Coos Bay, run by a Dutch fellow, serving German-based food. A fine meal.

If you stop in Gold Beach, and have a day there, take the jet boat ride up to the place with the fried chicken lunches.
