No More Rotated Stoves except for 17
Just FYI... received a call from ETI yesterday letting me know they have discovered that the new Suburban stove they are now using cannot be rotated 90 degrees. Apparently, the counter top is not deep enough to accommodate the new stove. OK on the 17 which has a deeper counter top.
Just a bit bummed but guess it's really not that big a deal.

Just for clarification.
What’s the reason for rotating the stove please?

They are narrower that way, giving a wee bit more precious counter space.

Carl: I don't think you will be disappointed. With the hinged cover and controls at the middle front on the new Suburban SDS2 it seems it should work much better facing the user. When the old Atwood DV20 was rotated the controls were in the front left corner so it probably wasn't as awkward. When the cover is closed it is flush so counter space is a non-issue. The standard counter extension provided off to the left of the sink helps too.
Other minor benefits of the standard orientation is that it appears to align a bit better with the range hood above as both burners are set back a bit versus one further out front when rotated. Plus if you ever wanted to "upgrade" to a Dickinson it looks feasible with the standard orientation, but impossible if it is rotated without a new counter top.

Yes, I'm fine with the standard orientation. Most likely won't be doing a lot of cooking inside anyway :-) Thanks!

Photos of stove not installed in announcement thread: Escape forced to change stove
The hinge side is on the right in the photo and would of course be at the back in the normal orientation.
Here's one installed in a 17' (where it is rotated):

I just received a note from Escape and have confirmed that the pic B-P shows is the correct one. The idea of having a laundry pedestal fill the space under the rear dinette is interesting. I am considering an option similair to that or having Escape build the permanent bed option. With the permanent bed option it does cost $500.00 but that includes moving the converter to the front dinette area.
How often does one need to access the converter. If a laundry pedestal is installed in the back dinette, accessing the converter could be an issue. Does anyone have an idea if this would be a bid deal? Or would you be better off just to get the permanent bed built by Escape and having the converter moved

My comments about the laundry pedestal being installed under the rear dinette should have been posted under a different thread. Sorry if I am confusing anyone

Well dang. Mine is rotated and it's the old version that came with my Escape last year. I'd love to have the flush mount but I'd have to have an entire new counter installed.

Guess you need to start a new thread. Yep, very confused as to what a laundry pedestal is and all that.

Are you sure? I haven't seen good published cut out dimensions for the new SDS2. Assuming it is bigger and you have the depth you could enlarge your opening and install.
