Nice, looks like you have a lot of work ahead. Is that your own house?

Oh man, just a weeks growth, one more week until shaving time.
The attached garage is finished, we are using it for storage and some work. We are combining the existing basement rec room, bathroom and bedroom into one huge red room. Lots of room for 2 pool tables now.

Or perhaps since there was a load bearing wall there before, there is already a footing under the slab that is not readily apparent in the photos. Looks like there might be.

The whole thing was engineered. This bracket was bolted to the fountain and a structural post on a large spread footing on the other end, which will be in a wall to the mudroom.

It is my own house, but was bought with the intent to remodel and resell, ghostly with a nice profit towards my retirement.
The house will be way too big for the two of us. As well, we are inner city with a quarter acre lot, way too much outdoor space to maintain as well.
I had lived next door for 25 years while we raised our kids krama and fix that hose up real nice too.

I have used bigger blocks like that for the same reasons. It is what gave me the idea for the beam. Very much overkill for weight loading, but the stability and ease in raising the beam very much paid off.

Hi: Jim Bennett... My daughters house doesn't have a "Jim Beam" but it does have a railroad rail down the center. Been there for a century now and I've never heard of any derailments!!!
Did you have to use any "Jack posts" under your "Jim Beam? Alf

While I have never seen a railway rail used, I have been to homes that have used some unique items as beams. I have ever seen renos that have no beam where there should have been one.
