Post RIP Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy, American novelist of the stark and dark, dies at 89

No other author challenged me so much with every page - I enjoyed and appreciated that immensely.
The Orchard Keeper
Outer Dark
Child of God
Suttree
Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West
All the Pretty Horses
The Crossing
Cities of the Plain
No Country for Old Men
The Road
The Passenger
Stella Maris

"Challenge" is a good word. It seemed like as much of a challenge to be the reader as to be the protagonist in the story.

I enjoyed "No Country for Old Men" but "The Road" gave me nightmares, mainly because it presented a very likely scenario in the event of a worldwide catastrophe. It is a harrowing tale. I recently finished "The Passenger" and its companion "Stella Maris". I'm still thinking those through.
