Maybe when you get the singles has something to do with it ? Whether you will get it again ? I was older . Really don’t know but it was on one side my arm and not my head . Some get reoccurring episodes but hasn’t happened to me . They gave me some kind of medication I had to take . Pat

My wife and I had planned to get the shingles vaccine last summer, and decided to put it off until after we got back from a vacation in July. Shortly after returning from vacation, my wife got shingles and was in severe pain for weeks. I immediately got the first shot and then the second two months later. Other than a very minor sore arm I had absolutely no reaction at all. After recovering, my wife went down and got the two shots (2 months apart). The lesson here is that it is better to get the vaccine than to put it off and risk getting shingles, which is much much more painful.

I shingled 3 roofs and after numb toes and sore knees that was why more painful then the shingles ! Pat

When I was a young child, I lost a couple of teeth around the beginning of December. The loss resulted in lack of ability to pronounce certain words and since it was Christmas time, all I could sing was Shingle Bells!

Make light of it, if you choose, but losing vision to shingles is not high up on my wishes.


Both my 2 part vaccine injections were of no note, but I know of others that have had temporary reactions.



I do enjoy a breakfast corned beef hash, also referred to as ...sh_t on a shingle. Ummmm.

I’m not sure injecting a little humor into a thread about a serious disease qualifies as “making light of it.” I believe most everyone here is well aware of the seriousness of shingles.
