A new 19 for us!
After researching, shopping, and pondering what would best suit us, I just got off the phone with Tammy at Escape. Long story short, we will be the proud new owners of a 2015 Escape 19. Two of the deciding factors were the very strong resale value of the used Escape trailers, coupled with the very favorable exchange rate right now. I think it is a perfect window of opportunity to buy new and option it exactly the way we want it at a very favorable price. A really big check just went out in today's mail!

Congrats! We're going to have to start calling Oregon "Escape Headquarters, Southern Annex."

Lurker finally commits!
Like Oregonian, the excellent exchange rate (as well as the resale value) convinced us to finally place an order for an Escape trailer. I've been "lurking" on the forum for quite some time and have been very impressed with the enthusiasm that the members show both for ETI and for your trailers. I've learned a lot (and am sure that I'll continue to learn from you as we finalize our build choices). Thanks for your insights and knowledge!

Way to go Dave! Another 19 on order. We will be up in Utah around the 2nd or 3rd week in March on our way back to Texas with our brand spanking new 19. We will be picking up my father who lives in Layton (I am a native Utahn) and then continuing south for a few days in the Canyonlands. We would be happy to stop in Sandy on our way south and show off the trailer. There is nothing like seeing one in person to help you with your build sheet.

And that's fitting. After all, you're right across the border from where they're made. But, Oregon looks like they're catching up!

As a somewhat new Washingtonian myself (4 years) Karen makes a valid point. If you want to see the PNW at its best, come up to the top of the lower 48. Oregon is a beautiful state undo itself. But if you want to see mountains, fir trees, wild water, and the variety of climates at its best, I have to recommend Washington ( and all of its Escape owners).

Washington is beautiful. But, Oregon doesn't have sales tax and we don't charge out-of-state visitors more just to stay in our state parks... which are wonderful. Just sayin'

Fair enough. I'd take Portland over Seattle in a heartbeat! Plus, one of the nicest places I've ever planted our 19 is on the Rouge River in Grants Pass.

New Escape
Folks:
I guess I was so excited yesterday when I posted that I failed to mention that we had ordered a 17B--I probably should have started a new thread. However, our reasons for finally placing an order (after considering it for months) were the same as Oregonians. As I was responding to Oregonian's post concerning his order for a 19, I can easily understand how folks would conclude that we were buying a 19 also. However, while my wife loves the 19, we are afterall buying a camping trailer. After many years of backpacking, we found camping in a Tab positively luxurious! Thus, I've convinced my wife that the lighter weight and smaller size of the 17 makes it the right choice for us. Hopefully, this will be the correct choice for the foreseeable future and we won't be looking to trade up in a couple of years. Thanks!
Dave

Congrats Dave and Penny! We were seriously considering the 17b, if we didn't have the two kiddos we probably would have gone that way.

Welcome, Dave and Penny, from another backpacking Dave and 17B owners in Utah (and yes, you probably should have started a new thread). We are happy after upgrading our camping vehicle from a VW Westfalia to a 17B, and you should be similarly pleased with your upgrade from a Tab. We agree with your reasons to choose a 17, too. Would you like a closer look at a 17B and/or discuss build options?
