Cleaning items and systems

Howdy y’all,
and happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉

So, in anticipation of traveling for a few months, I’m wondering what do people use to keep their Escape floors clean?

I’m looking for some type of compact or mini /collapsible system. Something that includes switching a broom, to a swiffer-type attachment, and possibly a mop head.
-Although I could use a wet pad to attach to the swiffer, instead of a sponge mop.

Has anyone come across such a system?

If not, please tell me what you use. (Btw, I’m not interested in a vacuum cleaner.)
TIA!

I have a couple of carpets on the floor, one that runs from the table to the bed & another in front of the bathroom (21C). I use a typical household broom & dustpan to sweep when necessary, and every couple of weeks (or months, depending on how lazy I feel) I pull the rugs beat the dust out of them, & use a sponge to clean the floor (usually the last life for a dishwashing sponge). I do have a battery operated vacuum that I use on the corners, cushions, etc. You get a lot of fine dust here in Quartzsite...

Jon,
Did you have a rug cut to size?
What about those interlocking foam or rubber pads? We thought about that to cover the floor as well.
But I still want to find out if there’s an interchangeable broom/ mop/swiffer contraption for small RVs. I saw one once, but can’t locate it now.

Adele,

As Jon describes removable carpets are easiest to clean. We are using a pair of store bought rectangles and matching door mat. They do not need to fit wall to wall, think area rugs. Small is better and they are easier to handle and shake out. They do need to be washed as the inevitable spill will occur (more often than you realize). Look for something you can easily wash also means small is better.

A portable vacuum is best but a small valet broom will also work. I use our home Swiffer with a tank to clean after each trip. One a year I get down on my hands and knees to clean corners and quarter round.

Look into carpet tiles, they come in a variety of sizes and colors. They can easily be cut to size with a razor knife if needed.
They come with a thin pad, don’t get the peal and stick by accident.

If you’re not real picky about the color you can find remnants of these at flooring stores.

The best part is when they’ve gotten too dirty they are cheap enough to just throw away and lay new ones down.

I have a Lagun table mount, so I cut a fairly thin piece of carpet to fit the raised section of floor. The other two carpets are off the shelf sizes - the main one is 32" X 60", and the one in front of the bathroom is 20" X 34". Both leave strips of vinyl flooring open.

As to the broom & dustpan, I use a cheap Walmart special. I have the storage cabinet over the drawer stack so a full sized broom fits in the corner between it & the bed. I tried one of the short handled, easy to store brooms, and prefer the longer handle, particular for sweeping the outside mat.
