Does the Suburban Elite flush mount range have problems?

Hi folks, we're planning our 5.0 build and want to go with the oven combo. We don't really use a microwave. So of the two offered, we like the look of the flush mount Suburban Elite that is offered as an option. However, I have seen a number of posts about problems with exploding ovens and dissatisfaction with how ETI is handling problems with one of the stoves.

Is this upgrade version the one having problems? Are these ongoing, or have they been resolved? Thanks!

AFAIK, the oven is not exploding. My explosion happened with the stovetop unit, not the oven combo.

Enjoy,

Perry

There was an oven recall that has been addressed. The issue is with the standard Suburban cooktop. Keep in mind that there is a build difference between the two oven choices. The one with the smooth glass top results in slightly smaller utensil drawers and the counter top itself is deeper and encroaches into the galley space about an extra 1”+.

Thanks for that information!
We're looking at the smooth glass one. That one makes small drawers than the non-flush version? And by that, do you mean the drawers to the left of the oven?
What do you mean "the counter top itself is deeper and encroaches into the galley space about an extra 1”+"? The counter used on the cabinets is larger and overhangs the cabinets by an extra 1"+?
Thanks!

Yes, the two drawers are about 2” smaller (narrow). The whole galley cabinet is deeper front to back with a similar counter top overhang. We liked the look and functionality of the glass top but did not like the reduced space and with that, the dials sticking out.

Ah, ok, so the cabinets are deeper as well. Being that noticeable in the 5.0 is interesting. I'd go with the non-flush version, except that it looks awful.

Ah, I see what you mean. You can see the difference where it meets the dividing wall.
Plus smaller drawers... I guess you can't really do anything on the glass top, but you theoretically put things on the metal top with less risk.

With the flush top oven, the vertical space inside the oven is reduced...and it is already pretty small in the standard oven.

Oh, I didn't know that. The video made them look pretty similar. That is good to know.

I really want to see if I can get them to install the Dickinson Caribbean 2 burner/oven combo instead.
