Fire Extinguisher replacement
Good morning all,
Our trailer is now 4 years old I believe it is time to replace our trailer fire extinguisher.
Does anyone have recommendations about make and model to replace the original?
To be honest, looking at the set up the other day (searching for a best before date) I realized that I have no idea how to remove the extinguisher, emergency or not.
Thanks for the help.

If it is the First Alert dry chemical fire extinguisher that ETI installed for many years, there is a “hinged” flap that weakly snaps closed to hold it in place. Lift the flap and the extinguisher is readily removed. With travel and vibration, the dry powder packs in and these extinguishers need to be turned upside down and jostled to loosen the fire suppressing material inside. The do not go bad unless they become depressurized. While I still keep the original fire extinguisher in my trailer, I keep two First Alert aerosol fire extinguishers in the trailer. One near the stove and the other adjacent to the bed. These do not make the mess that dry chemical extinguishers make and are available at Lowe’s and Amazon, and perhaps Home Depot and many hardware stores.
That being said, the best rule of thumb with fire extinguishers is if you cannot suppress the fire in 10 seconds or less, get out of the trailer. It can be replaced; your life cannot be replaced.

These little extinguishers are great have used them several times while welding outside them put the fire quickly without a lot of overspray like u get from bigger ones , less clean up

Just did a search...widely available for about $10 US. Sounds like great insurance.

Thanks all. Went to Canadian Tire and bought 2. Aisle 52 for those looking. $19.99 each. We’ll place one in the cupboard next to the fridge and one in the loft.
Cheers!
