Mattress pad and Q. about condensation

First- I'm looking for a good mattress pad, not too expensive, but without the extreme stretchy stuff that makes it fit a really deep mattress, as in my experience that tends to not stay in place well in a thinner mattress. Any suggestions? (Ideally that I can get from amazon quickly!)

Second- in searching the site I got a lot on condensation around mattresses. This was never a problem in my Campster- is it something I need to worry about now? I didn't have any problems with it on either of the trips I took late last fall but the mattress was sitting on the cushions and now I have it directly on the bed (no cushions under it.)

Hi Bobbie54,
I have a 17A and started having condensation where my blankets and especially sheets were in contact with my shell. My mattress was made a little smaller than the three sided space that contains it. I have stuffed foam pipe insulation between the sheets and shell.... I don't tuck in my blankets. Foam insulation sized for 1/2" pipe along the top and bottom and pipe insulation sized for 3/4" pipe all along the front .... this insulation looks like a pool noodle but is typically smaller in diameter and softer. Its dark charcoal in color and can be found at Home Depot or most other hardware stores. Doesn't cost much .... cut to length with scissors or a knife. This foam pipe insulation has a slit all along its long dimension and is typically used to "snap" on to water supply lines in the crawl space under your house. It generates about 1-1/2" space between shell and lower sheet

I still get a bit of condensation under my mattress but so far have been able to dry it out by propping up my mattress when I store my trailer. Might be a different story with winter trips.

Good Luck,

Tom

I'll have to check and see if I get any- didn't notice before, a little on the windows was all. Mattress fits pretty snugly- that would be different than in my Campster where one whole side of the mattress is open to the air compared to a couple of feet in the Escape.
