Jim,
I do a lot of night driving and with those 2x55 watt auxiliary lights on the FJ and with the trailer lights on, I doubt I'm putting much back into the battery bank, let alone the refer operation. Daytime maybe, but I drive with my lights on in daytime also (without the auxiliary lights). Yes propane is easy but I always like the option, if need be, in case of an emergency and wish to plan accordingly.

How big is your charge line back to the wiring harness, Jim? I could see how running lights would put a lot more draw on it. In Canada we have daytime running lights, but they do not draw as much as full lights, and are headlights only. If given the option (though not available when I got my trailer) I would get the 12V on the fridge too, you just never know......

We are headed to Jasper so 3-4 hrs of driving should be a good test.

I run on propane while driving and have had no problems.

I have never had any problems either but I remember a few threads that have raised questions about it.

Don't know my wire size, I am assuming that very little makes it back to the trailer batteries and that solar and my "reserve" is enough to get me thru a day of driving. My problem is a lot of times I start at night and will drive all night. I have been using propane in the past but would like to use 12v, if the option is useable.

Back when I was considering the 3 cu. ft. 3-way fridge, Reace told me I would need a #10 ground from the tow, and that the vehicle would keep the fridge running on 12V, but that would leave nothing for charging the trailer battery.
So, if you leave camp with depleted batteries, us the 12V feature, you arrive at your next camp with depleted batteries. Those with solar might not find this an issue.

Traveling in Southern Oregon right now. With 4 to 5 hours travel and fridge OFF a chicken breast and steak stayed frozen in 3.0 freezer. One problem we discovered is you can't get a growler in standing upright. Should have gotten the 4.3

Growlers are not as common around here as the are in states like WA and ID. So, we just buy large beers to share. Most of those are around 750 to 1,000ml.

The growlers we use in Southern California are 1/2 gallon, 1,893 ml. I remember last Christmas we went to a favorite micro-brew spot and bought a growler of their 12.5% Christmas Special. The next evening we opened it and my wife didn't like it...well it was a very merry evening for me!!!

I quite like that you can take growlers into places to get refilled. They need more of that around here.

I prefer buying my beer in cans, a 12 pack in each hand, a balanced diet.

I only buy cans when going canoeing, easier to carry the empties out, and they float too. Much prefer bottles, but you can always tip a can into a glass and make be happy. Okay, I can even be happy with a can alone, but not quite as much. Happy?

We both know the reason that cans are better in canoes...when you have to you-know-what...!...

Yeah, drag them in the fishing net to cool them down, right?

I too would like to carry growlers while camping in the 19 I think I will order.....but have a question.
With the larger refrig...where does the microwave go? I know normally it is on top of fridge is this still the case with the larger?
We want the larger fridge and still the microwave, since we tend to pre-make meals and then zap them after a day of hiking....
Do they relocate the micro? or just re-do the opening?
Thanks
