New Contemporary Chantilly White Interior

Just watched a new Youtube video posted by Escape on the New Contemporary Chantilly White Interior on a 5TA. Looks really good but I wonder how it will stand up to abuse over time? Hmmm?

For 2021 the Formica backsplash that was standard in the oak interior trailers is now gone. Only option for any trailer interior choice will be either nothing or the stainless steel (+$72 US) now.

likely pretty easy to get a bit of extra formica and do your own....taller than the one previously offered.

is it my eyes or does it look like the white behind the doors/drawers is a kind of fabric stapled on?

That stainless backsplash sounds good; however stainless today isn't what is used to be. I had a Samsung fridge start rusting after two weeks. This was purchased two years ago and was told they don't put as much nickel in the stainless. Was able to swap it out for the GE with the Slate coating they patented. Wearing very well.

What's next for ETI? An upgrade to radial tires from stock bias ply?

It’s a vinyl according to ETI. It’s probably glued / laminated, but that’s a guess. The video features Summit Ash flooring and the first Escape video with shots of the flush mount oven.

I'm also curious about durability trade-offs. Is maple a laminate as well?

If referring to the paneling, I've got a sample sent by ETI, the textured 'white' vinyl is firmly / 'permanently' bonded to the underlying plywood just as with the faux Maple and Oak samples I received.

Maybe you're observing yet untrimmed paneling edges where the staples holding the paneling to the cabinet frames are visible (e.g. along the top edge of the vertical piece at the top-step > bed platform interface)?

Or maybe you're referring to something totally different ....

They are all a thin vinyl over paneling to keep weight down. Door frames are solid wood. Drawers are plywood. It’s about weight and cost. It looks fine, holds up fairly well, and can be patched with matching adhesive tape. Thankfully it is not MDF or a derivative. Very few RV’s are solid wood, and those that are cost more than Escapes.

Having a sample of the new 'contemporary white' paneling in hand, I note that the vinyl has a definite 'raised woven texture' unlike the perfectly smooth Maple and Oak samples.

I can't help but think the noticeably raised texture will make the edges of any "matching adhesive tape" much more noticeable than the same applied to the smooth faux woodgrains where the tape can be pressed perfectly flat / smooth.

Good point on the tape and the contemporary panels. I’m sure some creative way will be found to repair dings and scrapes once a few of those trailers are traveling.

Maybe of interest .... my 'first impressions' upon very subjective and un-scientific damage testing of samples from ETI described in this post

New Contemporary cabinets

FWIW I'm sticking with Maple - for a touch of warmth while also 'light'. The Contemporary comes across as just a bit too sterile for me, YMMV, that's why having choices is nice

My trailer is not built yet, so I have not done any real world damage testing. I have not managed to damage my previous RV’s paneling.

Thanks for posting. it was good to see it. We still like the classic oak and will stick to that when we finalize our build in a couple of months.

They are building our 5.0 next month. We had the opportunity to switch as the contemporary came out just when the build sheet was due. We liked the maple and decided to stick with a proven product.

Good job on the offering, but I love the Maple in our 19!

Isn’t Summit Ash a fabric? Do you mean Shadow Grey?

I may be mistaken, but I believe the new option of flush mount oven has about 2 inches less interior height. Might not make a difference for some who only do pizza, but for those who like to use their oven alot, it might.

Yes, I should have said Shadow Gray flooring, and according to ETI, the flush mount oven does lose about 2” in height.
