I wonder if that means there's a charge if you want the original configuration?

I would assume so, but it's best to ask them.

Okay, for those waiting with bated breath for the measurements on the two burner stove (I didn't measure the 3 burner since we're not getting that style), here they are:
18" by 13.25" by 2"
Now to see if one of those set-size blue or purple cutting boards will fit over it. Or if I have to go the custom size route and hope their blue isn't too pale.
Update: Rats, the purple/blue ones will probably be too small as that juice lip might interfer with being used on top of the burners as it would be on the bottom of the board when I'm using it. RATS!!

Laura, I think one of those poly cutting boards will fit over the cooktop just fine. If you have Dirk make a wooden frame and screw the board to it, you have a cover as well as a serving tray, as many on the forum have done. The one in this link is only 12" wide, but there are larger ones out there and you can simply cut it.

Thanks Bryan. I decided I liked the purple ones enough that, by golly, I'm gonna make it work one way or the other.
I now have a large purple one on order, as well as a small purple and a small blue. Whatever doesn't fit in the trailer can be used in the house. My current ones are getting pretty darn ratty and could use an upgrade, esp in color!
And Marry, they make 'em in yellow! Just saying.

I look at it this way, switching/rotating the stove does not create any additional free space, it merely rearranges any that is available. If you can utilize what is available why pay to rearrange it? As long as my coffee maker fits on the counter I'm happy. I can install some spice racks behind the stove and make use of the cover for drying dishes.

I agree with this strongly. It might be because once upon a time I taught newly blinded adults to cook, and I'm pretty sensitive to potentially dangerous situations at the stove -- but turning the stove seems to me like it could lead to accidents. Also, it looks to me like there is less leeway for larger pots.

Here's a photo of my new small cutting board from Epicurean, the company that makes the boards referenced above. All ready for my daily cheese and cracker snack. This time around with Irish Cheddar. I really like these boards. Now to decide if The Trailer gets the small blue or small purple one. Decisions, decisions!
