Hi: Losangeles... Sorry!!! Due to the time delay I was catching some Zz's, but KarenH pegged it. We have ours on the upper lift door over the sink and the roll is out 24/7 for "Quicker picker uppers" Alf

Ordered a Kamenstein ratcheting paper towel holder.
My wife picked that one. And the mounting location.
Going to mount it in exactly the same place. Right by the "stripper pole" going from driver side to passenger side. So across the trailer. Under the upper cabinet.
Can I bolt it right to the underside of the cabinet?
Should I put some "blocking" wood inside the cabinet to screw into ?
Or?
Thanks for any tips.
John.

Yes, you can screw it in directly. I did that and it works fine. There's enough material there to make an acceptable mount. But, if you'd be more comfortable with a thicker mount, perhaps a thin wood block underneath.

I put mine in that exact location and screwed directly in as well. Only caution is to make sure you select the right length of screw or you'll penetrate into the upper cabinet. Also, used SS screws since it is in a moisture area over the sink and didn't want eventual corrosion on the screw heads.

I purchased the Kamenstein today from Bed Bath & Beyond for my Casita. I like it.

I see you mounted your paper towel holder to a block of wood and not the underside of the cabinet. How did you mount the block of wood? Screws into the bottom edge of the cabinet side?

There is a clearance issue if mounted directly in the rear, the block lowers the unit, I'm thinking about mounting mine to the stripper pole, still work in progress.

That's right. Note I also cut a rabbit (channel) into the mounting wood for extra stability.

I always pay attention to what you're up to, Myron and I heed your advice. Could you elaborate on the channel you cut (where/size)? Thanks!

Thanks. My Rabbet cut width is same as the vertical cabinet thickness. Done on table saw as seen here, with or without using pictured dado blade.

Can anyone offer me a bit of guidance?
I took a very careful look at our 2017 21' - and tapped the upper cabinets a bunch,
and other than right along the exterior wall, the upper cabinet's 'floor' is hollow, of course.
i looked carefully at where i want to mount our Kamenstein.... right above the stove (that we almost never use, as we cook outside)
and where the 'foot' of the Kamenstein needs to go is *just* far enough away from the exterior wall that I'm 99% sure that it is just thin wood top and bottom of the upper cabinet floor.
Should i use a thin (maybe 1/2" thick?) piece of wood, sitting on the "floor" of the upper cabinet - and screw in from below (thru the foot of the Kamenstein)
make sense?
thanks for any advice
john

Of course you can. Suggest use a fender washer on inside cabinet. Don't think I'd permanently mount any dangling paper product over any live flame, though, no matter how little it's turned on. Best is to get a full roll on the Kamenstein and "dry mount" wherever, to make certain it clears.

Fender washer is a good idea.
and
we'd make sure the paper towel isn't dangling down before using the stove.
or we could even remove the roll, temporarily.
I held it in place above the sink, to get a sense of it... with a full roll on it....
i find that if we mounted it above the sink in our 21' it really did get in our face, when using the sink.
we use the sink quite a bit when we have hookups.....

I believe in the 2nd G builds with the new door that the upper cabinets are more robust. The angle at the door from the cabinet down is solid as is around the perimeter by the door. I can tap with my finger and find the reinforcement. If you miss the interior wood, then a washer and bolt would work. I mounted mine today on the underside. I had to come forward to miss the valence, so I cut about 3" off the holder end. The paper towel hides the end now.

Kate, I too ordered one of these and when I tried to fit it where Robert did, it projected father than I liked. However, you'll soon see that the cabinet over the sink in a 5.0 is really tall inside (like almost 9" above the top of the door frame). I'm thinking about trying to mount the holder in the cabinet itself which still leaves plenty of room for storage.

That is why I cut about 2" off the roller, so only the paper towel projects now.

You're the one who got me thinking about relocating its positioning.
