Hanging Stuff Up
We moved to an Escape from a Casita. In the Casita we could hang stuff on the walls using upholstery hooks in the carpet. Has anyone come up with a non-damaging way to hang stuff in an Escape? We're wanting to jazz things up a bit inside. Thanks

I believe the preferred way is Command hooks both on the wood and in the bath area plus some suction attachments in the bath.

Welcome, cl3 - we're just down the road from you in Austin, and in fact our Escape lives in a storage yard in Pflugerville when we are not traveling.
3M Command makes a huge variety of hooks and other wall attachments that work great and are easily removable. And Ikea has some good bath wall accessories, both in suction cup and adhesive pad attachments.

We used industrial Strength Velcro to hang up a bunch of art and other things in our trailer.

Command hooks. I spray them with Krylon that matches the woodwork. They look original OEM.

Here's a picture of one. I'm on the road so cant give you a color. The Krylon color I picked looks good, there maybe others out now. I did this 3 years ago and the paint bonds very well. The painted hooks are pretty inconspucuous so you can stick them just about anywhere.

You can get 3M Command hooks in white plastic for wet environments like the shower and in brushed nickle that will hold five pounds.

I have both Velcro and Command hooks, figured both would make it easy to change things or get to batteries, bad idea. Went to change batteries in the fridge thermometer, while pulling it off the wall the Velcro stayed together and the faux wood surface ripped.

There is a Command strip version of Velcro-like stuff that offers the advantages of both. I use it for remotes for the awning and exterior LED light strip, among other things. Easy to remove temporarily, like Velcro, or permanently, like other Command strip types.
I also learned the hard way about other, permanent-type fixatives years ago with our 17B before discovering the wide range of Command strip options. I also learned about ETI’s “Magic Tape” to fix the boo boos.

I believe it is what Escape uses to hide their mistakes, similar to the paper that covers the wood that comes off, is available on a tape roll, to reapply.

That much I guessed, looking for specifics so I can see if I can find any. Unless of course someone is headed out to ETI and feels like bringing a roll of oak tape back with them.

Not so much to hide mistakes at to make seams appear seamless - there are several plywood seams on the bottom panels of the upper cabinets that wrap around the dinette where two panels meet. The oak tape is pretty much a perfect match for the color and texture of the panels and is very thin so it's almost impossible to see, you can feel if if you run your finger across the seam but it is really not noticeable. Wish I had picked some up when I was there!

Ooo I need that. I had an over the door hook on my wardrobe. In transit it slid all the way forward and when I opened the door it took a divot out of the surface. No one notices but me.

This is the tape ( in action ). I could have done better matching the grain.
Anyway, when cutting the tape, try not to end up with parallel sides. Makes it harder for the eye to discern the patch.
