OUTSIDE Dimensions of Escape Storage Box?

We are planning for our ordered 21C and need to decide whether to order the Escape storage box or find one after market. Will someone please measure the Escape box for OUTSIDE dimensions so we will know how what size box will fit?

Order the Escape box. Not only does it provide storage, it also serves to protect the front of the trailer from damage to the gelcoat due to road debris.

The front of the Escape box itself is coated with rubberized bedliner.

So if you use your own box, not only do you have to purchase the box, you need to add something to protect the front of the trailer.

Also, the Escape box is angled so it doesn't hit your tow vehicle when you make a tight turn.

Thanks for the advice, and you are probably right, but I might be willing to put up with some disadvantages if the price difference was enough.

Get it!

My used rig came without a storage box. I built one a few Winters ago with some leftover boat building materials. I got my dimensions from a local E19 owner. I don't have those dimensions available and my rig is in off-site storage.
Roughly the box is 48" long, 16" wide and 24" tall. Roughly.

What is important is a box to have angled sides so the vehicle bumper does not impact those sides in a sharp backup turn. I did have an eye bolt pierce my box. It was attached to my van bumper for use in tying down roof mounted kayaks and the like. You may find an aftermarket box, but it will not be as functional or visually matched as the factory box. I think the cost of packaging & shipping a box is prohibitive, so unless you visit the factory, they're not available later on.

Get the box. It is very useful.

here's my 2014 E21 classic. the trailer is the old molds, but AFAIK, they haven't changed the box.

max 80" wide on top of the lid

49 or 50" wide on top of the front of the lid

top of lid is 13.5" long (front to rear)

bottom of box is about 10 or 11" long front to rear

main part of box is 22.5" deep (top to bottom) including lid

trapezoidal inset in bottom of box to straddle frame is 4" deep

Preliminary research shows few, if any, after market boxes as large as the Escape box, and the pricing of the largest boxes rivals that of Escape.

Decided to not order the tongue box. So my 19 came with the vinyl protective shield seen here. Building my own box cost me well under a hundred bucks.
