I assume by "heater", you mean furnace (space heater), rather than water heater.
The Escape website's Pictures page for the 21' seem to show a non-standard configuration, because it has the outside vent for the furnace up front under the bed, while the old standard location for the furnace was under the driver's side dinette bench, and the new location replaces one of the drawers in that stack with the countertop on top of it. Maybe this was the old location with a U-shaped dinette?
There are photos in the It's Friday! thread showing recent 21' interiors during construction, and the thread about the furnace move shows the new location.
All of the Escape website's photos which show the furnace show the old one, but in all models other than the 21' the change of furnace model didn't change the location.

Although the 21' and the 5.0TA share the same general layout (and much of the shell) from the door back, the water heater is an exception - the 5.0TA doesn't have a space corresponding to that under the 21' bed, so I think the 5.0TA water heater is under the (rear) dinette seat, while the 21' water heater is under the (forward) bed, both on the driver's side.
I don't think the water heater location depends on whether the dinette is regular or U-shaped, in either model, but I could be mistaken.

Great, thanks for the help. I think I'm ready to put together the build sheet. Even though it's due in April, I await a call and want to be ready.
Same happened with my 19, I had seen one at a rally 6 months prior and Tammy called. I had 3 days to get it all together if I wanted the new date. I jumped at it but what a wild 3 days I was getting myself into! Amazingly, I got it all right and no regrets.

We find the view out the front windows is much better with the raised dinette on the 19. That was our sole reason for raising it. Good for people watching while we eat our breakfast.
It also gives you deeper storage under the benches, since the raised floor is only in the foot area and does not extend under the benches.

Originally, the furnace was under the bed with vents, as shown on the website. But there was concern with bedding impacting the performance, so it was moved to the rear dinette until the Atwood stopped that model. The newer model is amidships.

It would be best to contact ETI for information defining the location and components that will be used at the time your trailer is being built ! You never completely know what you are going to get in the build.

Yup, it's unfortunate that they keep improving the product.

It does make compiling a build sheet a little challenging.

Thanks Jim! That makes sense.
It would be possible to go back to the under-bed mounting, with longer ducts to the bathroom wall and drawer cabinet to avoid the bedding. Since the under-bed location requires ducting, it would need to be the AFSD12 model (rather than the unducted AFSAD12 model), so it would take more electrical power (3.4 amps instead of 2.4 amps), and it would generate more noise, although that noise would be better muffled. It seems like an unreasonably extensive change to ask for as a factory mod, but an owner replacing the original model 8012 furnace (or buying a new 21' without the furnace if Escape would do that) could go this way if they had a strong preference for it.

I am not sure I would be keen on having the furnace under the bed. Those things make enough noise without being directly under my head.

I'm wondering about having a water heater under there.

The water heater has no fan, so it's much quieter, and we usually have it turned off at night.

I'm not sure how much different this would be than in the cabinet beside the end of the bed, but I agree that this would be a significant consideration. Being ducted would help, but I don't know if it would help enough.
