Big problems?

I just read a post on the escape facebook page about someone with a brand new 21C that has been nothing but trouble:

"Series of problems since and only able to camp several times: Hole in fiberglass, rotten flooring required removal, crooked shelving, inside steps separating from hinge, maxxfan stopped working, fridge not sealing, leaking tank valve, vinyl ceiling falling, etc.... and now condensation in bed window glass & significant leak in rear window. Everyday is a new adventure in repairs."

Is anyone else having problems with new models? We're picking ours up in November!

Wow. That's quite the list of issues. Hopefully they have contacted ETI to arrange a resolution. We have a '23 5.0. This is the complete list of issues we have had in 9 months and 10K miles of ownership:

cracked shower valve set from faulty install - ETI paid for replacement
faulty sail switch - replaced by us

Aside from those two items, our Escape has been flawless and maybe getting better with age if that is at all possible.

Different folks have different tolerances for issues, slight and otherwise. Both my Gen 1 and Gen 2 haven't had any factory related issues.

Too bad the person in question didn't post on this forum. Some of the items could have been clarified, such as rotten wood in the floor and hole in the f.g.

I call BS on some of this... How can a new trailer have rotten flooring?....I think I know the camper you are talking about....and the drama was tamed down a bit, and ETI stepped up.....

Sure it was an ETI Escape?

"inside steps separating from hinge"

No 'inside steps' in a 21C.

it was definitely an ETI trailer.. was on the FB group. seems to me owners were a bit panicked, because of QC issues on an almost $60 k build...I think it was a 21... But she came back kind of sheepishly if I remember because ETI addressed all the issues to get it resolved..

Ok. It seemed pretty strange given the great reputation of Escape trailers. We’ll stop panicking and get ready for November!! See you on the road sometime?

That thread resulted in my first ever block on a FB Escape page. It was contradictory, inconsistent and appeared to be blown out of proportion. Not very helpful or particularly educational for buyers who were awaiting upcoming deliveries.

We picked up our 21C on 10/24/22. Outside of a few initial minor concerns the ETI quickly addressed we have had no other issues.

Quite frankly, in speaking with my sticky trailer friends ours has had the least number of issues by far.

We are now on week adventure and I have zero concerns with our 21C.

If I have one complaint it is that I’m not retired yet.

When I first started following this forum a new owner wrote a post about the poor treatment he received at ETI the morning of his pickup orientation. Apparently none of the arriving workers said hi to him even though it was clear he was a customer (parked in visitor space, American plates) and the legendary Reace didn't come to greet him and do the orientation himself. Expectations differ greatly.

When was this post of all their problems made? Couldn’t find it on Facebook.

Thanks,

Here is a list of the problems we've had with our 2015 5.0TA due to workmanship:

-nothing

Reace did notify us of an upgrade to the solar panel mount and supplied all the parts to instal it, but that's it. We didn't even know there was a potential issue.

Sounds a little sensitive perhaps.

When picking up our E19 this past July, it was nice to say hello to Samuel and Harrison in person after seeing them in all the videos we'd watched prior to and after ordering our trailer. It would have been great if Karl had stuck around in time to greet us and give us our orientation lol.

It was a busy day when we arrived to pick up our trailer. Everyone was pleasant, personable, and professional, but very busy. In fact, because of some scheduling issue (not ETI's fault) we and another couple were picking up our trailers at the same time - a two-trailer orientation. If we'd been expecting a red carpet, we would have been disappointed. Got to roll with things. We were happy and thrilled to pick up our new trailer after long anticipation and planning, and sure not gonna let a little "lack of individual attention" get us down.

You got the perfect trailer of at least the two that were destined for Winnipeg!

Just kidding, I see you have a 2015. That may have been a good year, maybe better in terms of quality control than 2023?

We love our trailer and it is perfect. Can we say nothing has been wrong with it? Certainly not. Few small things so far that the helpful forum members here have assisted with: 30 amp inlet wires to repair, busted hinges and latches. Only about 3,000 km so far. (D and I are winterizing today to get ready for the cold Manitoba winter.)

Cheers,
Paul

We are not nearly ready to give up on the season yet. We have a night or two stateside planned as well as one or two fishing trips.
The Qu’Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan is especially nice once the leaves start turning. And it’s a short trip from here. I think their campground facilities close the end of September but you can still camp if you don’t need washrooms or showers.

I wish we could camp a little longer but, alas, our work lives won't allow. Yesterday we winterized the trailer, today I will pull the 2 lithiums. I won't winterize the boat for a while yet - still lots of good fishing ahead I hope - so this is some consolation. Qu'Appelle Valley is a gem - we've been in summer years ago. Sounds nice in fall, will keep in mind for future, thanks. Take care, Paul
