Blank tank vent tube issue???

Hello,

I was going to install a new vent cover for the blank tank vent tube on my 2017 21C but when popping the cover of the existing one I found that there is a decent gap between the tube and the shell of the trailer. I can see inside and about 2-4 inches below is the back side of the bathroom insert. This cavity I'm assuming shares the same airspace with the storage area the bed. I'm not worried about water getting in since it's covered but am concerned about the blank tank venting back into the storage area under the bed. Is this a valid concern?

To fix it I was thinking of filling the cavity with expanding closed cell spray foam then reseal the top around the tube with the black stuff that was there originally (any idea what the black stuff is?).

Thank you!

Jacob

Mine are the same, looks like they used a jig saw to cut the holes.
Poor workmanship on the builders part for a 1-1/2 hose. some one should send them a hole saw. I used a tube of cocking for 2 vents, what a mess. And the vent covers they use OMG
Rotten in 2 years and explode on impact with a wash brush. Ya I know … sorry about that.

Yup changed out ours to the 360 siphon vents . We have 2 vents ,kitchen and bath . Was very surprised with the kitchen which looks like previous pic . Happy with the bath vent which had a black abs pipe . It is what it is ! Pat

Yes, this was a surprise when I opened mine up and posted sometime in the fall. I just repacked with butyl very well, put the vent on and did a final seal on the vent cap base with white Gorilla Tape. Only I and a few others now knows what lies under that cap!

What I did Greg with sealing with butyl all around . Finished up with Diclor self leveling sealant I already had on top . Just not how we would installed , but as I said it is what it is . Pat
