Freezer door panel replacement video?

Hi all, I did a search here and came back empty. I wanted to remove the wood door panel on my 5.0TA with a Standard Dometic and replace the freezer wood with a mirror for my wife. Can anyone point me in the direction of a video that someone made here? Or instructions on getting it out? I did not want to break any plastic pieces by pulling on them. It would have to slide out the bottom of the freezer door I think….how to go about? I did not see any vids online either other then for a Norcold.

There are a couple of plastic tabs that you push on the bottom trim piece that will allow it to slide off to the side. The top trim piece works the same way, but there's not enough space above the door to slide the panel out before it hits the ceiling....ask me how I know that

I replaced the wood panels in my 21 with black Formica. You need to use a screw driver to pry off the top panel. You will feel like it's going to snap in half but mine came off fine. On the freezer remove the panel from the bottom of the door not the top. You don't have enough room from the top to remove it before it hit the ceiling.

Thanks guys….I gave it a try, I pried it off so that I can measure the wood panel and order an acrylic mirror but I’m afraid I may have broken the tabs….sure sounded like it. It’s hard to tell from the piece if they are there or missing. I guess I’ll find out after the mirror arrives in a week and I try to snap it back on……sigh….

If anyone ever needs to do this, order an acrylic mirror, it’s 1/8” thick and 17 9/16” x 22”. This is for a DM2683LBFX Dometic fridge/freezer. $35.75 at WWW.TAPPLASTICS.COM

I left the wood panel in place and slide the Formica into the frig doors in front of it. You might find without doing that just having the mirror will be too loose...just a thought

I don’t think the wood panel was too loose and I ordered the mirror in the same thickness.
