Help! Breakaway cable pulled - procedure to re-attach

We brought the camper home from the storage location this morning. While I did disconnect the breakaway cable from the truck bed, it got snagged safety chains that were sitting in the truck bed when I disconnected the camper from the truck. So, now - the breakaway cable is sitting in the truck bed all by itself.

I am not entirely clear what is the process for reattaching it? Do I try to re-insert it back into the socket? Is there something to reset? The camper was and has been stationary throughout.

Any advice would be appreciated. We are heading out for a camping trip tomorrow morning.

Best I know

Best I know is to reinsert it ASAP. You may want to have your brakes checked out as there can be damage from long term activation of the magnets.

Nothing to reset, just de-activate the electric trailer brakes by reinserting the plastic piece.

You also may need to charge the trailer battery since it's been applying the brakes all day.

Thank you very much! I have now done this... Hopefully, the breaks are not on tomorrow...

I will get them checked when we get back.
