Thanks and I've certainly wandered off topic also. But I find it unacceptable to take a new thread, aimed at giving specific help to a person, and turn it into the usual slag against ETI and a well respected member.

I've got an idea. These folks that insist on telling ETI how to run their very successful business should start a thread in General Escape. They could call it "What ETI should do."

As a bonus they could include their CV and explain how they came to run a Fortune 500 company.

Oh come on—we were commenting on the OP's report of Escape's disappointing failure to offer any help and advice, even if she came to the factory. That is just as on-topic as her request for help with specific items, which is going to require more information and photos in any case.

I went back and read the original post, it’s mentioned being unable to get Escape to assist with the situation.
This could be helpful information to those who don’t have the abilities to make repairs on their own.

I had Mann’s welding in Shoreline wire my Forester for trailer brakes when I got my first Escape. (They had installed the original hitch at the recommendation of Carter Subaru.) They know what they are doing and could probably help with the brake issue. If just trying to adjust them doesn’t work, I’d recommend their shop.

Thanks everyone. I think I found a place to check the trailer brakes and the controller in my Toyota 4-runner.

Bobbi 54, I'm going to try Tork Weld in Kent first. I appreciate your suggestion very much.
