No more Krylon Fusion paint

I went to Rona to buy a can of Krylon Fusion paint for another project. Imagine my horror when they said that they didn't carry Krylon any more. It's the best paint for plastic that I've ever used and it's perfect for painting the propane tank cover and any other plastic parts an off white that matches the gelcoat really well.

Rona sells a house brand supposedly for plastic but it doesn't appear to have a color that matches the gelcoat. Home Depot doesn't carry it.

Canadian Tires' website still shows that they carry it. I hope so, it's nice to have a product that exceeds expectations. I'll be stopping by tomorrow to make sure and buy a can or two in case they stop selling it also.

Ron

The Walmarts near me in Florida have a large selection of Krylon Fusion. Have you checked with Wally?

Walmart ca. doesn't carry it. Amazon.ca lists it but my oh my, the prices. $10.93 plus $17.46 shipping. If Canadian Tire doesn't carry it I'll be getting some at Walmart in WA next time I'm across the border.

Wow when I got it on Amazon ours was free shipping . I only have to pay tax and the 10.93 was about what the paint cost . What's up with that ? Pat

Home Depot and Rona aren't the only hardware stores.
Check Home Hardware ( Lonsdale and 14 Ave. )
https://www.homehardware.ca/en/cat/s...on+spray+paint

That's about $8 CAD and no shipping.

Depends on where it's coming from. Buying online in Canada is sort a teaser. Sometimes the cost looks really good but then you see the shipping cost. That's why many Canadians who live reasonably close to the border have items sent to a U.S. address and get free shipping.

Gasp, there's other stores than Home Depot. I usually find just about everything I need there. Haven't been to that little store for years mainly because of the poor parking but if Canadian Tire doesn't work out I'll try them.

The Krylon Canada Fusion for Plastic® web page links to a "where to buy" page which lists a bunch of stores including Rona... so being in the list doesn't necessarily mean that any of those stores actually carry it. Since Lowes has bought out Rona, it may have been discontinued at Rona stores, explaining that discrepancy.

Parking is no problem. Take the lane off of 13th ( heading west from Lonsdale ). Parking in the rear ( and a door, so you don't have to walk around ). Usually at least a half dozen parking spots.

You're probably right, it might be the Lowes connection that caused Rona to drop the brand. Rona's current offering, which they call a paint for plastics is a house brand. Probably made in the same factory as Lowes paint. You never know these days.

Sounds like one way or the other I'll still be able to get some more.

Lowe's doesn't carry Fusion in Florida either and probably in the rest of the US. They seem to have a huge assortment of paints from Rustoleum, which IMO, is crappy paint. At one time many years ago, it was a good product.

Right about that Brian . I checked the ,where to buy and the places they said to buy including Walmart , not there . Was happy to find it on Amazon , but I don't know if I would pay what Ron has to . I don't know if it is true but some manufacturers get the stores to eliminate the completion . Pat

$11.24 CAD is $8.45 US at current exchange rate. No shipping if they have it, and if not, they can likely bring it in for you.

No worries. Fusion was replaced with a Krylon multi-surface spray paint. Label says good for plastic, etc.

I tried it on 3m Command hooks to hang keys on. Coverage, durability and bonding seems every bit as good as the old Fusion.

I thought the same thing. Cuts the display space down, shipping, stocking, warehousing, etc!

Heck I have 2 cases of Lt gray and white Fusion I bought when I was renovating the interior of my plane but don't need anymore. Hmmm, I ought to mark it up and hustle here while the panic is still going hot and heavy!

FOR SALE: the LAST survive cans of Krylon Fusion Lt gray and White $30/can! (discounts to Escape Forum members).

Dover White is a pretty good match. It's not exact, but close enough to paint things like the propane tank cover.

Remember too, there was a change in the gel coat colour tint a few years back too, though I imagine yours is the newer one.
