Power Jack Kill Switch

Has anyone got any advice on installing a switch in the trailer somewhere that kills the power to the tongue jack?

Since it is powered by the charge line, which also powers the break away switch, any switch installed inside the trailer would need to be on when traveling, both to power the break away & allow the tow vehicle to charge the trailer battery.

If you are willing to put the switch outside, the connector connection between the tongue jack wiring & the charge wire takes place in the trailer 7 pin junction box, at least in my 2017 21. A switch spliced into the wiring between the junction box & the jack motor would be a usable location.

Yeah I was thinking more for when parked at a campsite. I assume when I use the battery disconnect switch it will kill the power jack too - which is what I will do when in storage.

That depends on where the charge line connects to the batteries. On at least some Escape trailers, the charge line connects on the battery side of the disconnect switch, presumably so the break away still works with the battery disconnect off. I'd check before depending on it.

So i discovered that there's a fuse in the cable leading to the jack - removing that works for now. Not perfect, but it'll do for now.

If I remember correctly the battery disconnect switch located inside the trailer does NOT disconnect power to the break away switch nor the power jack
When I store my trailer I put the battery disconnect switch in the off position but the jack still works
The only way I’ve found to kill the power to the jack is to disconnect the wires at the batteries
Again I am going off memory so I could be mistaken!

PS ; I drove over and checked my trailer .
The power jack works with the battery disconnect in the off
position
