Need some wisdom...I had ETI replace the restroom ceiling vent with the new powered fan vent. It has the dark acrylic plastic cap. I know that UV takes it’s toll on plastic as I am having to replace a few crumbling plastic parts. I am painting replaced items with Krylon Fusion paint to hopefully extend their life.

Replacing the cap ten years from now is probably cheaper than painting it every few years. I've managed not to bump my non-powered white plastic vent for ten years now. Fingers crossed.

I wouldn’t paint it. As Jim said it lets in some light which is nice. The fan used by ETI is the Ventline Vanair. If you are worried about it just buy and stash away a replacement dome lid for $15.
