I've found that clipping the camera to the rear view mirror works well for me. It's up and out of the way, but still a good position for a quick glance.

I clip it over my rear-view mirror, which actually works quite well in that the view is not distracting, but there when i need it.

It doesn't need pre-wiring. My trailer didn't have it. All it needs is a 12v supply, which is easily added.

I'm not aware of any cameras that will run without external power.

The range is ridiculous.. I can pickup the camera signal in my car when I'm still 300-400 feet from the trailer....
