It is supposed to hold up to a 32" TV and 25 lbs. I did have to cut the plate down...

I latch the arm back and stick a rolled up towel...

I latch the arm back and stick a rolled up towel under the TV to help support it. So far so good. The bracket has a home position with a latch pin.
