Water heater can be bypassed. There would not be a lot of water in the lines, and as long as there is no pressure, not much should come out.

That said, blown out lines would be much nicer to work...

It supposedly is hot water that causes the crack, not just the pressure. With doing like Dave did, and not running hot water through the line, all should hold out until a fix is implemented.

Great info for others with the new 21, Tom. I understand Reace's reasoning, but obviously a wrong choice. Was it the regular clear tubing, or the reinforced type?
