Well it should stay on if using for both propane and electric and since the electric will keep the propane use to a minimum, in effect it should work as a reminder the water heater is opening.

But it stays lighted when you are using it on propane, does it not? I guess those with the dual option would need a reminder that it is on when only using electric and not both propane and electric?

The on/off switch indicates that the water heater is on, remains lighted until turned off. There is a separate fault light in case there is an issue. Mine is just propane but this indicator should...

I believe the op went there and Little House Customs and other than a spare part
nothing else was really needed but they did get a spare hinge part for the refer, just in case.
