Nothing unusual about the end of the hose going into the dump pipe as you describe. That's why there is a non-potable water hose there to rinse off the slinky. Glad you enjoy watching the sewage flow...

I guess that's why I avoid commercial campgrounds. Usually camp in Forest Service sites, right on the lake.

I've just been placing a rock on the hose, or if at a sani-dump closing the dump cover on it to hold it in place. i didn't know I had to buy something for that purpose.

If you place your hand on the underside of the hose, you will feel the hose vibrate as sewage passes. When it stops vibrating, it is no longer draining.
