Absolutely, yes. And, it will be a wonderful trip!

And Robert, I am just amazed that you're not too excited to be able to sit and type these responses. Or are you standing, and maybe jumping up and down.

I am very excited, but for some reason I am very calm too. Wife says I'm acting weird...

I kind of had the feeling that your truck was going to show up at the last minute. They have been making them for a while in Dearborn and they just got the line up and running in KC around the 1st of February. Now for a gentle break in on the way up and to get comfortable with it. For some reason I do not feel comfortable driving vehicles that I do not own and have rarely test driven a vehicle that I have bought new. Loren

Yes Loren, I'm very happy it won't be the rented truck, even though it would have also been a 2015 F150. I don't even notice when I'm driving a rental, since I do it pretty much every week on business, but I just didn't want to tow with one. It'll have about 2300 miles on it once we reach Chilliwack, and we intend to take 5 days to get there -- nice and slow.

I hear it's hard to go nice and slow with a 2.7 EB.

Will be interested to see how you like it. We've been toying around with getting one of the new F150s but there's not much reliability data on it yet. Nice looking truck!!

Congratulations. I've always believed that when you are willing to come up with a plan b, and even a plan c, things just tend to work no matter what! Enjoy the new truck and your new Escape.

I don't know which story to believe anymore or if Robert got fed a line from his dealer about the truck sitting in Kansas City, but here is the main headline in the KC Star on the business page today.
"F-150's KC Line Starts Today". And it goes on about the first truck coming off the line and with Ford's President, Missouri's governer, and a bunch of other big wigs being there. And also about a bunch of other information which is almost a column long. I am very puzzled. CADreamin also mentioned reliability data and I wonder what Consumer Reports will give the new Fords. After GM revamped it's truck lines for 2014, they give it a low reliability rating as they do with most newly redesigned vehicles. In my opinion, they are overly critical on a lot of issues. Anyway, I would hate to get the first vehicle off the line on a new design though someone will. The article also says that Dearborn has been running the new line since late last year. So what story do you believe? Loren

I think Robert lucked out, getting his new F150 from Dearborn, if only because they've been making them at that location a bit longer and have had time to get their processes learned/checked/approved, along with some production history. This new truck is a radical change for Ford, or anyone for that matter, in that it has been designed with lighter weight materials, which means new procedures, techniques, processes, etc to learn and adapt to. Aluminum and (thinner) high strength steel are a bit different to work with than the original steel components.

Nice looking truck!

Loren I heard the same thing today about the KC plant starting up on the F150 on KC NPR today.

Robert hope you have a great trip and enjoy "Past Tents" on the way home, and that the weather is great! Your truck looks wonderful.
