Paul, little correction on the dates. It is from September 25th to September 27th.

Yes, I second all others: Thank you for putting together the nice schedule. We will make sure and look at the balloon event for sure!!! We will arrive on Friday later afternoon (darn work for both of us...). We are site 5. If an extra tent won't fit, we will fit the kids inside Cafe Egg, hehe!!

We're about 2 hours north in Nelson Dewey State Park. We just toured the National Brewery Museum in Potosi and had dinner there. Very interesting place if anyone else is coming through that direction. The Potosi brewery is operated by a non-profit org that managed to save the old brewery that was scheduled for demolition. Good beer too. Ok now I have to get back to waxing the underside of the trailer 😊😜

Eric,
If you were camped in that area, specifically at Grant River, you need to like trains. But being from Galesville you do not have those horns to lull you to sleep. I was camped there earlier this year and was curious how many trains passed Potosi each day, it was something like 46. Of course the entrance to Grant River COE Campground has a rail crossing so they all need to do their obligatory two long, one short and one long. They do it during the day and they do it during the night.

Nelson Dewey is a bit further from the rail line and at a higher elevation plus the big thing, there is not a rail crossing.

Good old potosi. Used to be their motto I think. I've been up there a few times. My bro and my daughter and son in law go regular too. Nice displays and good food. There's a restaurant in Cedar Rapids with some Potosi breweriana or what ever it's called. Most trains per night I ever experienced was on the Union Pacific Main line at Ogalalla Nebraska. Loud, long and lots of them.

Mary had a "Good Old Potosi" with dinner and liked it. I tried a couple of new ones that I haven't seen before. Picked up a case of 4 different 6 packs for the rally days

Yep even up here on the top of the bluff we could hear trains about every 30 minutes last evening. Fracking for oil in the Dakotas has certainly changed life for people living along this rail corridor as most of the cars are oil haulers now and amazingly frequent trains.

Hear all about it!!!

Hey, Rally-Escapers, we want to hear all about it!
I couldn't attend either...bad muscle days.

Woulda been OK if I had a trailer to travel in! Oh well...

Please recap, and post photos! Maybe some interiors, too?

Our first rally was an outstanding experience for us. We were out standing in our campsite and out standing chatting, in most all of the others. We shared backgrounds, hobbies, and "escaping" experiences. I saw the original "Alf" shelf, awe inspiring! And, we took in lots of innovative solutions to everyday trailer life problems. Thanks so much to Paul for setting-up, and executing, this event. I'll post a pic or two when I have more time to figure out how to do that.

I don't have any pictures (except for a couple of the "American Pickers" store). I was too busy meeting folks, showing and visiting trailers and sampling brews to think of taking them. There were a lots of folks who stopped by yesterday to tour trailers. Mary and I assumed that few would want to see our little 17 amongst all the bigger new ones, but a couple of times there were people waiting in line to see it. (Mary of course blamed that on my overly loquacious nature).

It has been a great time and thanks so much to Paul for getting it going. We wished more of you could have joined us.

Mississippi River Fiberglass River Escape Rally

Yes Jim, the ever efficient Paul has one planned for about this same time next year We're sitting along The Ole Miss in the campground watching Wood Ducks so I don't have the paper with the date but looks to be a definite go.

One of these days I'd like to hit more than one rally on a trip. In other words ideally one could stop at a rally going out to Osoyoos and returning hit another one. With Alf's Niagara Rally one week earlier, several attendees were able to attend both.

Ok according to Paul's tentative info: September 30 to October 2 at Thomson Causeway about 25 miles north of this year's site.

"loquacious"? What's that? Did you and Mary for a bike ride around the park on those bikes in your campsite that were holding up a tree?
