If you have ideas you'd like to see tried at the rally short of a swimming contest across the river, (3.5 miles with barge traffic) let Paul know. Rallies work when many get involved and there are diverse activities. Last year at the Rocky Mountain Rally North of Durango there were people who took Jeep trail rides, day trips to Mesa Verde, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, chair lift ride past Oprah Winfrey's shack, butterfly watching, as well as nightly views of the space station. And a marriage anniversary celebration. Now that's diverse.

I personally do not consume mood altering beverages but I would be more than willing to help out those that do choose to inbibe. . So feel free to ask me for a donation to the cause.
I was hoping to get the chance to taste your special garlic.
but I also understand that you can't control the weather or the generosity of your brother.
This will be our first time at this rally so I will leave the agenda up to the more experienced attendees.
All we are hoping for is good weather , but if not , a good time will still be had by all.

Thanks Dave

Paul has reserved the pavilion for three days and it's really a pretty big pavilion. So a sprinkle should not be much of a big deal. At Scott county last year the coffee crew convened first thing in the morning and there was someone watching the fire and keeping her going till about 11pm each night. One nameless person stayed especially late in a comfortable chair he borrowed. He had a real nice dog too.

Yeppers, a warm fire, cold brew and a bathroom within 10 feet, perfect spot.

I have a lead on a truckload of firewood again this year. Having lots of hands to off load the wood was great. High entertainment value in that wood. Someone with a dog and a cooler was there late last year. I remember going to the bathroom (last year the fireplace was connected to the bathhouse) at 6:30 am and someone was stoking the fire.

I reserved site 103 for two days, leaving Sunday. We attended the "open house" on Saturday last year and we look forward to returning with our own trailer this time. Can't pass up a rally only 50 miles from home!

That's what I was referring to. The final quote I heard was " Are you going to bring my chair over to the camper?" And the chair person said "Yes I will in a few minutes." The person who owned the chair forgot his soft sided cooler full of beer in plain sight of the road. It was still there in the morning. The only campers in the loop were fiberglass people and Jehovah's witnesses, so there was no real theft threat. You can't make this stuff up.

Great to hear you're booked in. We will have a fine time I am sure. Looking forward to seeing your camper. Paul is on the gas and will get us a load of wood, you bring the marshmallows.

Ah that explains it. My worry was someone had the wrong dates for their booking.

Sadly, I've been roped into a wedding that weekend in the Chicago 'burbs and can not attend. The dog Iowa Dave mentions is Lefty, reputed to be the smartest, strongest, bravest dog in the Tri-County area. And all winter I've been in training, thrice a week, mentored & coached by Mr. Goodwrench at the local garage for the torque wrench competition. I am ready, buffed and dialed in, but alas, for naught.

Have a swell time.

Tom and Lefty

Being a veteran of competition coon hunting where the slogan is "When the tailgate drops the B.S. stops" and where the proudest statement a man or woman can make is " TREE , MY DOG" I will verify that Lefty is one incredible dog. While I do not see the value in a dog that locates the fruit of the Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera) Lefty has this as one of his talents. Tom we will miss you and Eastern Iowa's Smartest French Brittany will miss sneaking a sniff with his buddy Lefty.

Tom - you could always just set up at the Rally commute back and forth to the wedding! I'm very good at helping other people spend their money and time!
