If I told my in-laws in Augusta I was going to Lake Thurnond they would say “where’s Lake Thurmond?”

Favourite forum thread

I admit that this thread is my favourite one on the forum. I come here only rarely, and when I do, I most enjoy seeing, and hearing about, the places where people have or are camped. Running close behind are the various threads that recommend, for or against, campgrounds or places of interest. And esp MyronL (?).
Except when I have problems with some part or other of my Escape and get the much-appreciated help from the forum "regulars".
Happy camping.

Also out the back window at Big Bend National Park, a Ladder-back Woodpecker.

And out the door, a giant spider, waiting to ambush someone (me?!).

Chisos Basin CG - 15 degrees cooler than Castelon, and spring water to boot. Lots of bears however - hope to see one out the window some day.

I had friends staying there and visited with them- (they had to come off base to meet me and get me through the gate) but it was during smoke and fog two years ago and we couldn't see much of the view (which must be marvelous).

Spent a couple of days in Vulcan Alberta last month geocaching and geeking out over the Star Trek stuff. Got up in the morning to find a Common Nighthawk on the hood of the TV. I was able to get quite close for a picture or two and thought that it would fly off when the truck started. It stayed on the hood even as we drove to the gate of the campground, I actually had to get out and reach for it to get it to fly off.

Not the back window, but from our campsite at Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park near Merritt. I did consider not posting, but the park was already fully booked until after Labour Day and was still filling up after when reservations are no longer in effect. Obviously not a secret.
We paid the shoulder season senior rate of $9 a night. There are pit toilets and water available, along with garbage collection and picnic tables. Cell service almost non existent. Watched many people doing the Cell Service Waltz, trying to get at least one bar long enough to send a text.

That’s a great photo Glenn. You still have it.
Glad to hear you’re getting out.

Thanks.
All you need are FRS radios to get them to paddle in unison and position the canoe, and hue and saturation to make the photo look like what you see.

We stoped at the Kentucky / Alleyne Lakes for a couple of days after Ossoyos in May. Beautiful aqua marine water (because of white volcanic ash bottom).
