It was a regulation change: Caffeine and Carbonated Soft Drinks (July 2010). Sorry, I should have included that link for clarity the first time.

The general idea is that consumers should get only what they expect, particularly regarding things that raise health concerns. We expect caffeine in coffee, tea, and cola, but traditionally did not expect it in other beverages. Heck, we choose some of those to get the caffeine...

Alf, now what was it that you like to mix with Bourbon (not coffee) that you served me at the Niagara Rally. Not sure whether I liked your trailer or the drink more

It is the same here now and you do have to read the label.

Hi: emers382... I sure hope you're not suggesting I influenced you with "Drink".
I can't remember the mix but I know it wasn't sacramental wine... could have been Maple Wine though!!! LoL Alf

No influence with the drink, it was the maple, I liked it, but liked the trailer even more as you well know

UPS just delivered an aeropress to me. First cup already done.

Overall very pleased with it. My heavy-er glass french press can stay home now. If I can find a good coffee to go with it, it might even replace my Keurig machine. Maybe.

I like to leave the coffee/water mixture in the AeroPress for near a minute before pressing. I believe the instructions call for much less time.

I make at least two batches a day, each doing 2 cups, with the AeroPress. I have looked at more expensive machines, but once you have a method down, it really is quick and easy, and tastes great too.

I just roasted a batch of Sumatran beans. Love the flavour wafting in the air.

The only thing about my French Press I didn't care for was cleaning it out. Made great coffee. Then got home from a trip and discovered the glass broke. Could not find a replacement glass no where. I insist on using the same big white coffee cup Clint Eastwood used in the movie, Gran Torino. Got it at WalMart. This is a serious coffee cup, I am certain rbryan will agree.

Ended up at Ace Hardware, switched to my glass Melita pot with #6 filters, have never looked back.

PS: WalMart has since dropped Clint's cup and changed the styling. Not nice.

Had a press, hated cleaning it. Now when I boondock I just pour boiling water through my regular drip coffeemaker into the thermal carafe and toss the filter. Same as with a Melitta.........

Well of course I'd agree. Anything that Clint Eastwood used in any movie automatically kicks ass.

I just added the "S Filter" by Kaffeologie to my Aero Press. It made a great cup of coffee even better. Unlike most of the permanent "gold filters" this one is not a plate of SS with a bunch of holes in it. Instead, this is a very fine wire mesh. (they claim 100,000 holes per square inch. Some claim that I am "obsessive" about my coffee, but then I tow an Escape, so I guess I am obsessive about things! The S filter also comes with a lifetime guarantee. Try it - I think you'll agree that it improves the taste over the paper filter and the cleanup is simple.

I haven't tried the S Filter, but it does look interesting. I use the Able disk in my Aeropresses. It is made from a thin sheet of stainless steel. The very minute amount of solids really does not affect the taste, and I love the brighter cup it produces, over that from the paper filters.
The Disk: Stainless Steel Filter for AeroPress by Able - Aeropress - Brewers - Brewing Equipment

I did do a bit of playing last summer, and pulled out the paper filters to do some comparing. With an Ethiopian roast, which are generally one of the brighter coffees, the paper did tone down the brightness some, and was not too bad at all, as it did allow other flavours to come through better. But with the Sumatran I had with me, which generally has a more earthy flavour, I much preferred the added brightness that the metal filter allowed, due to allowing the oils to come through.

Try this brewing technique for excellent results.
