Dogging the country

We see a lot of trailer pics. Let’s see some of man’s best friend around the country.
One pick per location say.

I will start with a pic of our travel dog.

This is Radar the wonder dog. He is 13 years old and does all the hikes with us. We named him after our old air force trade. We bring him even on 8 and 10 kilometre hikes but I carry him in a pack when he gets tired. Angela and I are in our sixties. He is technically 91 years old in dog years. I hope I'm in as good a shape as he is when I'm 91 . This is Yoho national park in BC.

Lefty

Here's Lefty, the smartest, strongest, bravest dog in the Tri-county area, I believe. Gone now, but certainly not forgotten.

Hi David Murphy,
We got our first calico cat in 1970 just before we were married, had several cats over the years which brought us over 50 kittens. We lived in a house in a city park. I would put a big sign up on the fence corner Free Kittens on nice weekends. They would all have homes shortly.
We had cats, cats and a dog. cats a dog and a parakeet, cats, a dog and a chipmunk. And now Just Jake. Things got a little crazy at times over the years.

I got out of my pickup to close a park gate one night and a kitten someone had dumped came out of the woods and jumped in the pickup and then onto the front seat. I took her home. She lived a very long time. She was a very small adult cat at four pounds when she matured but was the greatest mouser I ever encountered.

A German Shepherd, Border Collie and cat die in a tragic accident and go before God seated in Heaven.

God asks the German Shepherd, "What have you done to deserve a place in the Kingdom?"

The German Shepherd replies,"I have been loyal to my human and brought unconditional love."

God allows the German Shepherd to pass.

God asks the Border Collie, "What have you done to deserve a place in the Kingdom?"

The Border Collie responds, "I have been with my humans to protect them and bring them joy."

God allows the Border Collie to pass.

Finally, God asks the cat, "What have you done, cat, to deserve a place in the Kingdom?"

The cat clears his throat and says. "I think you are in my seat."

Gertie was a rescue from San Bernadino, found abandoned wandering in a field, age unknown. She travels well and has been from Alaska to Baja and Vancouver to Newfoundland etc. As long as she has a comfortable berth she's a happy camper.

The first time that we drove through San Bernadino with her we watched to see if she perked up and started sniffing the air, but nothing.

Here she is at Q'site. She loves the heat especially in Baja.

Dogging the country

My little Ellie in the eastern sierras. At 16 years old she is definitely slowing down but it was just last year that she did a 5 mile hike with us in Bishop and I had to leash her on the way back down the mountain as she wanted to race back to the car to get her treats! Now she can still do a few miles if we are at the beach, but mostly lives to sleep in the sun or under her blanket all day. [ATTACH]
