Top (4) Options for Escape 19'

Same top three as most others: front storage box, insulation & thermal windows, dual 6v & solar. I'd say the single most important option to order with the trailer is the insulation/window package, because if you don't get it built in, then change your mind, you're just SOL. The other things can be added after the fact if necessary.

Then, after you pick up the trailer, a shopping spree on RVWidgetWorks.com. Charlie makes a number of really useful widgets for our trailers.

Just to get back to the beginning. Find out the way you see yourselves camping in the near and far future. And answer the question how you see yourselves camping, in the near and far future. Are you a boon docking camper or a convenience camper? Do you want the use of all amenities like you have at home, or are you the primitive camper person? Do you just want to press "the" button, or are you seeing yourself as the hands on kind of guy.
Looking at and going over the build sheet with the question in mind of how you see yourself enjoying YOUR camping experience will determine what you cross off and add to YOUR build sheet.
This is how I did it. And for now it works. Yes, no one can look into the future health wise, but we all have to start somewhere.

Think about driving up to the Escape Rally next month in Osoyoos. Then you can look at all the options available as well as all the extras that Escape owners put in themselves. It might be worth your time and effort, then you will have a really good idea of what it's worth you putting in.

I agree with most of the comments here. Having camped now in the north, Midwest, and Florida, the insulation and HVAC were absolutely vital.
1. HVAC
2. Insulation (including thermal windows and foam insulation underneath)
3. Surge protector
4. Dual 6 batteries

We didn't opt for the solar panels. Figured we could add those later if needed. So far, we've had no need for them.
Finally, the storage box does make things so much easier!

as long as the propane tanks are forward enough to allow the box, yes

Thanks...I guess it's not safe to assume that all 19's have the same space behind the propane tanks. I'll run it by the people at Escape and see what they have to say.

We had it installed on our 17---they first moved the tanks--then installed the storage box..

You'll need to go to ETI for the box. Cost prohibitive to ship freight and Reace will not ship it with trailers. I tried. I've worked quite a bit on the tongue for our A/C mod. My guess is that the propane doesn't need to move on the 19' model because it is already up nearly against the jack. Provisions just need to be made to relocate the batteries inside the box.

Interestingly, the solar and storage box were not on my initial cut. My initial thought was that solar didn’t collect enough power to make it worthwhile. I later realized that my power requirements would be low enough that the solar panels could provide all my electrical needs. I got dual solar panels mostly to be able to do this in the shaded state campground you find in the PNW.

May be a dumb question, but what all are you plugging into all you 12v outlets? I would like to better understand how to take advantage of the 12v option. Thanks!

I have only one 12V outlet and do fine with that for a phone and tablet. But I'm only one person. Even if I were two people, one outlet would work for both of us.

It is easier to have extra 12v installed during production than afterwards. With 2 people there are computers and phones and charging bluetooth speakers, a dedicated outlet for the tv, I have a weather prognosticator that travels and picks up local forecasts, all of these are 12v users. Also an occasional 12v blanket is handy for those rest stop naps if you did not want to use your furnace.

Try plugging your USB into your 120v outlet, won't work.

Thanks. Finalizing my build sheet this week, and still hemming and hawing on some such choices. Trying not to overly curtail options, while not wanting to overbuild.... Interesting... and a little crazy-making, trying to find a happy balance.
